Ok folks I don't think this has been answered on how to get rid of it.

I had the same thing about 2 months ago, it affected Ebay and my banking.

NONE of the anti-virus will get rid of it, but if you go here :"ebay Confirm Your Identity" pop up window asking for credit card and bank info - Emsisoft Support Forums Post 5. and follow the instructions it will get rid of it.

, did the procedure permanently cure the machine or does it reoccur? Any idea where this came from, the banking side of things is especially concerning? Is the disclaimer at the end of that thread of any significance? I think I was very fortunate when I was using Win in that I didn't ever really get affected by any nasties. However as Ken has found out, they're becoming increasingly cunning and I can easily see how this one could trick users.

Yes it did fix it permanently.

I must admit that I ignored the last bit because I was desperate to get rid of it as I couldn't do any banking.

Default Problem might be fixed, but with issues

I tried every suggestion offered, and may have fixed my initial problem.

As a result, I managed to knockout my keyboard, and also prevent me from opening emails.

I'm typing this on a standby USB keyboard.

Keyboard Windows cannot start this device because it's config info (in the reg) is incomplete or damaged (code19)

Emails I get a message saying insufficient memory, that's crap.

I'm running XP and do not have a disk, was pre-installed on my computer.

Ken, do a search for "system restore" on your computer (click on the start button - the search box is immediately above it). If it was turned on this will let you wind back your computer settings/installations to a previous time. Certainly not fool proof but worth a go. Start up in safe mode, do a system restore back to pre-virus times. If you tried malwarebytes I'm surprised that didn't find something. In any case - good luck with it.

    Cheers

    - Mick

If this was my system, I would be doing a repair installation about now. You need the disk for that though. If the system was preinstalled on the computer, there may be a way to repair the installation built into the system though. My laptop has this feature and repairs it from a separate partition. The laptop also has an option to make a set of repair discs as well. I haven't ever needed to use mine, but I have a set or two that I made just in case. I highly recommend everyone without disks provided with the computer make these system disks as soon as possible, because you never know.
The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

    Default Thank you "Fly"

A big thanks to "Fly" who spent all afternoon and evening going through my computer cleaning out many viruses and reinstalling software.

It was a slow, carefull process requiring a lot of patience.

As a result, I have my computer back. I still have a motherboard issue to be resolved, that will be next.

    Again, many thanks "Fly"
