I think you will find that Telstra have a bug or virus or "feature" in their billing system that is causing the charges.
I've had the credit on two pre-paid SIM cards evaporate to nil via unexplained calls supposedly made by the SIM to itself.
Given that neither SIM has been in a handset since the end of August Telstra is having a difficult time justifying the charges. Their first "explanation" was data calls, their next international roaming, but yesterday I got an admission that there might actually be an error in Telstra's system.regards from Alberta, Canada

Hmmm, rather oddly I just got an email from my brother saying that he had massive uploads going from his computer from a program called iphonebackupunlockerservice.exe
He said it is a legit piece of software but he doesn't have anything apple and has no idea why the software is on his computer. Data counts in both directions on mobile broadband so it may be something like that? Windows 8 doesn't share updates so what I said earlier doesn't apply to the OP.

I'd say you either have a process that has gone mad, or are acting as a spam engine for The Bad Guys.
First, run Resource Explorer. Check out what may be munching on your connectivity. Sample image attached.
Second, check the integrity of all the processes on your PC. Obtain and run Process Explorer: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...sexplorer.aspx
Process Explorer isn't an anti-virus. It simply shows you exactly what is running on your computer and compares every single program to a known-good hash of that program. If anything is suss it will blink red. It doesn't know every single program in existence, but its a very good start.
Personally, I think Telstra is evil and wouldn't trust them with anything for any reason. They will sell you out every time. Remember, evil ISN'T the bad guys:

edit: I forgot Security Task Manager: Security Task Manager - Windows 10, 8, 7, XP process viewer Its a good tool for showing you various Naughtiness on your PC. Right click a suss program and it will scan it to death with all popular anti-viruses.

So I got to site about 6 this morning and fired it up. Went out of the office at 7 and was out on the site until late morning so not using anything. We started getting emails about the usage from around 8 am which has been a similar time each day. I turned it off and the emails stopped. Turned it on at lunchtime and emails started again. Old mate in the office thinks he has worked it out and it has something to do with my email. Interestingly I had email issues (able to send but not receive, emails in folders disappearing in front of my eyes)immediately before this started happening and old mate came out and changed some port settings(what ever they are) and everything seemed to work ok. I did look at the network usage this morning and the only thing using data was email, but it didn't seem excessive to my eyes, but that was prior to the emails from Telstra starting at 8.
So old mate in the office has my lap top now and I will get it back in the morning. Hopefully it is sorted because as I understand it we have never used all of our data (about 6 of us connected to the one account) yet we have already incurred over $400 in additional charges since the start of this month!
Will report back on how it goes.

Forgot to add that even though emails seemed to work after the port settings were changed, the vanishing emails have not resurfaced. Anyone have an idea how they could disappear in front of my eyes, and how I can get them back?

Do you have Auto Archive turned on?
Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Change your email password.
Check your mail clients settings and see if you are using POP or IMAP.
If you are using POP, it removes it off the server once retrieved. This can of course be changed.
If you are using IMAP, your mail client is simply a view of what's on the server. A local copy may also be kept as an option (e.g. You may want offline access during a plane trip).
By changing your password, you can see if anyone complains that their email "breaks", especially if you access it from more than one place (phone, pad, office, home). Mystery solved.

Old mate has worked out what the problem is and it is nothing sinister. There is a known issue with Outlook 2013 and IMAP using data like a Sumo wrestler at a buffet. This was not an issue with previous versions of Outlook and has not been a problem for me over the past couple of years. I am not aware of any fix for this issue so have started using a different email client (which I don't like) and we didn't appear to have any issues.
We will get the pros to go through my lap top and see if they can get Outlook up and running again
