Weird stuff with eBay and Firefox
So today's weirding out question is:
For about 6-12 months I have had mostly rotten luck getting eBay to work with Firefox. If I click on something from a google search that seems to work, but if that click takes me to an eBay page where I have to then click on something specific, the screen flicks around a bit and then just goes blank and looping (doesn't stop trying to load). When I try to "go back" the url to choose from is "wyciwyg://55/https://...rest of url". I cannot go back in one click - I have to click and hold and drop down to the immediately previous page that I came from, which is also a bit weird.
When I copy the URL into Chrome it works as it should.
I have Adblock Plus installed in Firefox, but have whitelisted ebay.com.au.
Nor can I log into SBS On Demand (also whitelisted) with FF (I think ABC iView might be ok these days)

Here's a very old article describing this problem. The wyciwyg:// relates to the browser's cache.
The link covered several possible solutions including changing the DNS and flushing the DNS cache.
Hope this helps, Jeff

Ok, here is the page that displays ok (from a google search: https://www.ebay.com.au/i/132795409767?chn=ps then click on any one of the similar items below the top one....flick flick flick about 4 times, looks like it's loading then blank screen except showing only my 6 Foxclocks all grouped together in the top left corner, and continues trying to load. Thanks Jeffen. So from that article I installed Noscript. What happens now is: when I click on the google link that I posted here I can't see any pics for the "Similar items" but I can click in the blank box for each and it does in fact display the item (which I couldn't get before). Problem is ....I can't see what I'm clicking on When I try to reply to a post in this thread ....I cannot.....nor can I reply with quote. That is why I am posting this as an edit. Think I might have had a gutful of Firefox and its difficulties, but I don't want to really use Chrome because I've heard there are security issues with data sharing and tracking.

Apparently I can post this if I click "Reply to Thread" at the top? No formatting options whatsoever though (Ctrl B doesn't bold the text, it gets rid of the Bookmarks bar at the side. Have just pressed Enter twice but am expecting it to not work once I post, even though typing it has spaced two lines down. Now going to "Preview Post" to see if there are any formatting options..... stand by.....NOPE, NOT A SAUSAGE. Will summarily execute Noscript with complete prejudice!
Edit: Yep, Noscript is now gone and I can WYSIWYG post again. (see the blank line above This and the bold?!)

It used to load instantly on mine too (Win 10 and FF is always up to date). Been playing up for maybe a year.

OK - I've been chewing this over in the back of my mind, and here's three things I'd have a try at to see if they can fix this:
(1) Clear your FireFox cache, and make sure that it's up to date (manually check for updates). When clearing cache try clearing everything except passwords (simply for convenience sake here, they're rarely responsible for a problem). All this in Options - Privacy and Security
(2) Make sure Adblock Plus is up to date, but IMO the way to do this is to uninstall it, reboot the computer, reinstall it from a fresh download.
(3) Open a command prompt as Administrator (right click, "Run as Administrator"). Type in SFC /SCANNOW and press enter. Hit the shop and make something. Come back, and see if Windows has found and fixed errors. If it has, great! If it hasn't, still great, but try your bug anyway and see if it's fixed.
Let us know how you go?

hit windows key, type CMD, then when it finds the command prompt, right click that and run-as administrator. Don't hit enter !

No violations found, and the scan only took about 10 minutes.

OK, no change at all.....
BUT
I didn't reload Adblock plus, but I have just disabled it and the one ebay site I tried actually worked (google search for item, click on that - which has always worked - then click on another item below that - WORKS!)
So now I will whitelist ebay in Adblock and see what happens. I'm almost certain I tried that previously to no avail, anyway ... here goes.

Well, ebay seems to be OK now, thanks very much MM! I have a suspicion I may have left off the www. in the whitelist address but that still doesn't explain.......
....why SBS just don't wanna play. I know my password is correct because I logged in using Chrome and it's all good. This is no real big deal because I don't mind using Chrome for SBS Ondemand or ABC iView - it's a deliberate choice to sit down and watch something. Not being able to get ebay is something that can come up any old time when I'm searching around for stuff, so that was quite aggravating.
BEWDY! I'll call the problem resolved for now.
Thanks very much to all who contributed.

What's the URL for your SBS thing please? I'd like to test it here.
I will say *most* streaming services that I know of are asking for Chrome, and if it's something else, you're taking your chances (Foxtel Go comes to mind here, which I think is now called Foxtel Now).
