    Another one to recommend Open Office from Sun Systems - its free, is a fairly good replacement for M$ Office and exports to .pdf reliably. Comes in Windows, Unix and I think Mac versions.

    Does online conversions, rather than a program you install. I have only used it to convert protected pdf to Word, and it worked well.
