    Default google chrome

On my 2 work computors we have been running mozilla firefox.

Occasionally we will go to google maps ans the screen comes up and freezez the internet connection.

The only way to reset is to turn of the internet and then re turn on.

I tried to load google chrome and the same thing happens .

Does mozilla firefox have google blockers or something like that.

It is weird as all our other computors are ok with google chrome it is only the 2 we have on the counter in the shop.

I dont recall having this problem in the past as I am sure it has worked ok in the past , have noticed the comutors have had updates lately and not sure if this has affected something in the setup.

Not a computor person unsure where to look.

I use firefox and google maps without troubles.

Do you run all the free good problem checkers.

I run AVG virus checker, but any is OK.
spybot search and destroy Once a week.
    Malware antibytes, once a week.

All three are available free, you just nbeed to read the install and say no to extras and free pro versions for 1 month etc, just stay with the free ones.

If you DL from sysinternals.com the sysinternals suite there is a program called autoruns, Bit techo but you looking for the image hijacks.

I'm guessing there is something that has been loaded to the browser and is stalling the google maps load (browser hijacker).

There is another one you could try called "hijackthis" (dl from http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/).
It will scan your browser for nasty things in just the browser.

    Default Google Chrome

I had issues with FireFox, so switched over to Google Chrome and never looked back.

It's fast and error free so far.

Until you get the hijackers in chrome and it starts all over again.

Fly might be right, but I'd wager it's a video card driver - specifically an old nvidia driver.

Spyware and other cruft cause havoc and hair loss, but this seems too exotic. Both browsers work differently enough that a combo middleware Trojan would be easy to spot by any antivirus. The fact it's crashing on the same behaviour and not on any other browser shenanigans points to a common suspect.

The browser is making a call to the renderer and I'd bet the unified driver (which packs in drivers for almost all the doodads on your computer) is exploding when called. I'd also bet sound stops at exactly the same time.... If you happen to thumping out your Norwegian Thash Metal while mapping

Update the driver by going to Nvidia and selecting the auto update choice. http://www.nvidia.com/download/scan.aspx?lang=en-us
