    Default One for the gurus.

These days I mostly use my iPad to view the forum and newsfeeds such as “news.com.au”, “ABC news”, etc.

A few months ago the articles would load but not the pictures which would just be a blank box. After clearing out the accumulated website data, (Safari website data) all would be as normal for a while.
Long story short, through a process of elimination, I believe I have identified the culprit.

Whenever “Cloudflare” or “Cloudfront” appeared the problem occurred, removed these items and all was normal again, for a while at least.

I did some research on “Cloudflare” to find that it is supposed to speed up the net and make it more secure, as websites apparently go through it I can’t seem to eliminate or ban the data it deposits except by deleting it manually each time it appears.

Is it only me experiencing this or have others come across the same issue?

    Is there a general fix?

Appreciate any help as this issue is now becoming a real pain.

Don’t use a VPN, do run Adblock+ and AdGuard and don’t have any pop up ads etc happening.

The only place where ads appear is in the Apple News app and they are static and appear to actually be embedded in the article, nothing “pops up” or asks for any redirects in any of the places I visit.

Have done the clearing of history and website data more times than I can remember but what appears in the pix in my original post just keep turning up. Often the gobbledygook in front of cloudfront is different and often there are 2 or 3 of these. All apps and system are up to date.

It appears I have everyone stumped or I’m the only one experiencing this problem.

The “stuff” keeps occurring and I keep on deleting.

Any ideas as to where to go for possible answers?

As a general statement and not Mac specific it used to be possible to prevent pictures down loading to speed things up when the net was a lot slower than it is today. The browser settings were configurable to do this and Opera even today has a setting to speed things up but I have never used it but apparently these settings are in some software even today. Perhaps try a different browser to see if there is any difference would be my suggestion.

Bob, you may wish to try Puffin as a web browser for the iPad. It is very fast. I tend to use Crome on my iPad, because it is easiest to create accessible bookmarks and is quicker than Safari. However I found Puffin the fastest of the browsers.

Edit to add: also try Brave. This is the same foundation to Chrome but appears a little faster.

    Why is puffin shutting down?
The reason is very simple. Development has long ceased since Apple saw Puffin as a rival and unfairly stopped us from releasing updates through App Store policies. ... For free Puffin Web Browser users, the service will shut down on October 1, 2019.
