Default Too hard for me to work out

Over the last few weeks eMails to one of my mates keep
    getting rejected.
The reason: 550 client host rejected:
(not accepting mail from this ip).

However, he continues to send me eMails ok.

I am with Bigpond - he is with aapt.

I have tried sending him individual eMails and they are
getting rejected. I also send some with multiple addresses
which include his but only his address gets rejected.

    Any ideas please.

I have had that happen sometimes due to spam filtering. If a particular server at bigpond has been used to send lots of spam, then anyone who sends spam through that server may get blocked by some spam filters (and by that I mean AAPT could be blocking it, not your friend). That may not be the case for you, but may be possible.
The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

Thank you Peter for taking the time to respond.

It sounds like a logical explanation but is out of my
league. Will continue to monitor the situation.

Alan, firstly, have you checked that your email setup on your client is set up correctly? That is, check your email program to ensure the correct details are setup, especially the outgoing details. What I would actually do is attempt to send your mate an email from Bigpond webmail panel ( https://signon.bigpond.com/login then click on webmail up the top). If it gets rejected, it's his fault however it doesn't then it's your end (setup).

If you dare, you can contact the Indians help desk.

Peter is probably spot-on. The problems lies with AAPT. The second part of the message is reporting a server-to-server failure to connect. Presumably AAPT thinks your email's coming from a spamming server so blocks it. Webmail may pass through a different mailserver hence may work.

Whatever the issue, BP phone monkeys will not be able to assist other than to confirm the maservers are functioning and walk you through your settings (or tell you where to find them on their website).

If you do use webmail, you might also want to cc or bcc yourself as a record.

Thanks for your input fellas ... problem now solved
as the fault was in my mate's system. Somehow
my address had been blocked but now cleared for
    business.

    Thanks again.

In the past, I had to deal (professionally) with several ISPs who just loved to block Bigpond addresses supposedly as a source of spam. Couldn't prove it but always considered it a deliberate anti-competitive action on their part.
