Default A heads up - Win 10 now auto-downloading on Win 7/8 machines (byebye 3.5 gig of data)

Microsoft is so sure you'll like Windows 10, it's now auto downloading to your hard drive if you have Win 7/8. So if you have only a small data allowance, you might want to watch out what updates you install, otherwise one of them will be puling down 3.5 gig of 'update'.

    http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/...e-just-in-case

Microsoft's comment is: "For individuals who have chosen to receive automatic updates through Windows Update, we help upgradable devices get ready for Windows 10 by downloading the files they’ll need if they decide to upgrade.

"When the upgrade is ready, the customer will be prompted to install Windows 10 on the device.”

    Default Underhand

I don't want Windows 10, so went into Windows update, and changed the settings so I have a choice whether to download updates or not.

I reckon what Microsoft is doing is really sneaky and underhand, I'm surprised.

    Thanks for the tip off.

Some people actually copped 6Gb of download while it was trying to install.
