Help with Autocad file
Looking for some help from a kind member who uses Autocad 2007/2008 or 2009.
I have been sent a dwg file that I can't open. Autocad reports "drawing file not valid".
It seems it was created in a much later version. According to a Google search, opening the file in Notepad, will reveal the version, and in my case, the file starts with AC1021 indicating it was created in 2007/2008 or 2009.
I use Autocad R14, and have access to 2002 & 2005.
Cutting to the chase, I would like to be able to send the file to a member who can open it, save it as 2005 or lower, and send it back to me.
In order to attach the file, I have renamed it to LA35.avi to get around the file size restrictions, so you will need to rename it back to LA35.dwg for starters.
Any takers?

I should be able to do it at work on Monday if you can wait that long.
I'll just email it to my work address now so it will remind me first thing on Monday.

Help with Autocad file

many, many thanks, that is exactly what I was after.
Whilst biding my time, I found a free Autodesk conversion program on the web called DWG TrueConvert. Not believing anything from Autodesk could be free, I decided to try it out.
Wallah, it worked perfectly and will convert the latest dwg files down to almost anything.
Just waiting for the "your 30 day trial has expired"
To all that looked and helped me out, thank you. Problem solved.
One another thing I would like to be able to do, is convert pdf files to dwg files, free.
I've tried a number programs off the web, each has issues, eg, lines are not straight, lines are segmented, and circles are no longer circles.
Any recommendations?

Glad to be of help.
There are plenty of programs available, but the best require an extraodinary amount of manual input to get good conversion results. To be honest, you'd probably be better off drawing from scratch rather than trying to convert a PDF.
