I need help with an MP3 player.
my wife has a MP3 player (no name brand), quite a good little thing, works well, does everything she wants.
However, I cannot delete files from it.it has a simple directory structure - Music, photos, videos etc in separate directories.
She has loaded lots of MP3 files into the music directory and now wants to delete some of these. There is no "delete" function in any of the menu items i can find on the device. When the unit is plugged into her laptop via a USB port i can add more files , move them between directories etc, etc. The unit appears to Windows (7)explorer as an external hard drive. If I highlight a file, right click and delete, I get a pop up box asking if I really want to do this - I answer yes and the file disappears from the list. If I exit explorer and re enter the file comes back. i have tried "shift delete" as well with the same result.
Has anyone any ideas on how I can accomplish what should be a very easy thing?

Thank you for your reply Ray. Sorry for the delay.
I seem to have fixed the thing by a reformat. When I plugged it into my old desktop, it reported errors - kind of like an old floppy disk. Seems OK now.
Thanks again.____________________________________________________________

For Windows users, a useful program for dealing with any MP3 player is WinAmp. Its free - google it to find and download.
Its a basic music organiser/player program - when you plug MP3 player into your PC via USB it will show up on WinAmp as a new device/location on the left hand side of the screen. You can then move music to the device or remove it using the tools provided.
Most importantly for me, WinAmp is one of the few free programs out there that allows you to do all this with any iPod too. This means you don't even have to install iTunes on your PC in order to use an Apple device for your music storage.
All my CDs are ripped to MP3 and stored on PC (with backup external drive). I can then freely move music around between all my mobile devices using WinAmp - be it an iPod Mini, and iPhone, or a new Nexus 7 tablet.
