I'm not happy with Microsoft
The sneaky bathplugs, they installed Windows 10 on my pc without my permission. In my opinion that's unethical.
My win7 was just fine. How do I revert back to win7? I have the win7 install disk.
I'm really angry.

Ken,
I don;t believe that's possible. At some point you got curious and looked at the upgrade and didn;t read what you you were clicking on. Yes, you can go back to Win7. Have a look around your computer or on the 'net. Win10 can be uninstalled. You don;t even need to reinstall win7.Cheers,
Joe

Hi Joe, I definitely did not ask for win 10 to be installed, Microsoft just did it. Every time their Ad popped up, I deleted it.
Now that it's installed, I will leave it, it's functionality appears to be very similar to win 7, so I'm happy.
One thing that annoys me is the US format for the date. eg 5/17/2016. How do I change this? Iv'e gone into time and date settings, chosen the preferred format, clicked on it, but it doesn't change.
Any ideas?

Double click on the time (bottom right corner). Then click on Date & Time settings, then Change Time and Date formats and select the short date format you like.
I'm largely enjoying W10, having come directly from XP. There were some very annoying things such as not remembering the folder size & shape on-screen, and which monitor and position the folder was in, but I found a fix for that with a download last night. Another thing that is REALLY aggravating is rearranging the desktop icons whenever it likes to, but "Desklock" fixed that too (but DL does have some drawbacks).
They were the main two bugbears, so it's all pretty good now. I REALLY like the expanded Start Menu functionality, and have spent some time creating larger icons with some XML code for Start.

Any other suggestions?

That's the option for the long date Ken. Go to the box above it "Short Date".

Just to confirm how I did it a moment ago.....
Right click the clock
In the pop up menu go to >adjust date/time<
At the bottom of the settings page select >change date and time formats< in blue
Select the date time format you want, I use >dd/mmm/yy<
There is no need to save as it changes straight away and you can check before leaving the format settings pageCHRIS

Windows 10 is not to bad, it's at half mix of windows 8 and win 7. If you can your better off staying with it.
however if you have to revert back to win 7, you have 30 days to revert.
go to settings, then recovery, you should see an option to roll back to previous Windows version.
As for the long date short date options, check your region settings in control panel, while your there check your language is English Australia.
Hope this helps
cheers

I can understand how Windows 10 was installed on Ken's computer as it nearly happened to me this morning.
A couple of days ago, I received a notice that it would be installed on the 18th which I closed.
This morning, when I turned on my computer, a window popped up to say that it would be installed in 15seconds.
I immediately closed it and turned the computer off. It happened again when I re-started for this session.
I agree that it is unethical - they are upgrading us by stealth.Tom

I think WIN10 is way better that 7 but I think that being forced into it or having it just loaded unasked stinks. There are good reasons why some may not want it or even be able to use 10 and it should be up to each person to decide and MS should not decide for anyone. Keep in mind that the free upgrade offer ends in July so decision time is getting closer for all users.

Under the scheduled upgrade option, there is the option to cancel this upgrade. When you go through the screens there is the option not to upgrade to win 10. However unless you are running a program that does not have win 10 support, I think you are better off upgrading.
if you run Mac computers, these upgrade between OS versions and you have no choice. Microsoft are just trying to compete with there Apple competitor....
Cheers

If you do get it and roll back it would be a good idea to extract the licence number so you can re-use it if you go to 10 again in the future.
I think it will only work on the same computer though so you shouldn't be able to install it on a different system.
I still like 8 the most out of the bunch, 7 was horrible.

Its easy to go back
- If it’s been less than a month since you upgraded to Windows 10, you can go back to your previous version of Windows by going to Settings > Update & security > Recovery and selecting either Go back to Windows 7 or Go back to Windows 8.1. This won't affect your personal files, but it will remove any apps you installed after the upgrade to Windows 10.
- If it’s been more than a month, this option won’t be available in Settings and you’ll need to use a different recovery option.

So far I'm happy with Windows 10, it's functionality appears to be the same as Windows 7, so a question.
What are the benefits of Windows 10 over Windows 7? Why are Microsoft flogging Windows 10 so hard?
