    Default Increase Your Internet Speed

Apparently Testra and I think Optus made so made some changes recently that can increase everyone's internet NBN speed. Just by turning off the modem and restarting it which is simple enough, mine went from 48 thingos to 56 thingos so I guess that is a win.

Well we have a 25/5 plan, which is 25Mbps download and 5Mbps upload. I just did a test and we have 24.7Mbps download and 4.8Mbps upload. We, at a maximum, do sometimes run three computers, with all watching moving pictures. Be that you tube stuff, educational stuff, or, streaming from SBS type of stuff.

Sometimes we have had Telstra issues and the network has closed down, when the grid goes down the network stops, so our modem has been switched on and off a few times as far as input goes. Not switched of as far as power goes as our house switches almost instantly to battery power augmented by solar rooftop panels.

As we never seem to be running out of data capability, this is good enough for us. We have HFC and since switching to Aussie Broadband 1½ years ago, we have not really had any speed issues. Haven't had any other issues of note either.

Mine just happened without rebooting, went from 47 to 54. I believe it’s an NBN thing to keep the ACCC happy so their tests will match the ISP claimed speeds.

I am in a former Cable internet area. When we were n Telstra Cable we were on a 100 mb/sec plan and speedtest was showing speeds of up to 126 mb/sec all the time. I posted that in a different discussion on the forum a few years back and everyone hated me for it.

Now I am in the same Cable area but we now connect to the cable network via NBN still on a Telstra 100 plan and we usually only get 70 to 80 mb/sec and along with the inconvenience of the lower speed we also have to pay a $30 per month speed boost charge which we did not have to pay before it went to NBN.
I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.
