My IP Address.
Hi to you all,
I use White Pages on the PC quite a bit.
All of a sudden, " Sensis " will not allow me to use W/P
The Wording is " We have detected unusual traffic activity originating from your IP Address ".
I think I'm right in saying that all Computers have an IP Address.
So up it comes, with a bunch of numbers that I have to write in the slot, then Submit, so then it tells me to wait 5 mins. & then have another go.
When I do it again after 5 Mins. I get the same reply.
It will not let me use W/P at any time.
So what have I done wrong to receive this punishment.Regards,

Yes all have an IP address, some are fixed is every time your modem connects you get the same address and some/most are dynamic as in you get assigned a free one from the isp's pool. A few things could be happening. 1 its not actually sesnis but some trogan on your browser, try a different browser google chrome is a good one or Firefox. 2 they have blocked the specific IP which means a restart of your modem might result in a different one and you might be OK again. 3 they have blocked a whole pool of your ISP addresses in which case your stuck and probably need to email there support. Most of these bans are automatic the network firewalls see x number of dodgy requests and ban that IP not necessarily you but some one in your shared address pool could have been harvesting address information

We have not used
WP on a 'puter in over a year. Kept getting odd/dodgy results...and exactly not what we were looking for, sometimes the polar opposite. Sometimes results supplied by YP...now that truly is a PITA
Now we all just google the name and suburb, if known, and done.
Not sure it's much help with residential though...
Not sure what we're going to use as screen stands when they stop printing the WP and YP though...

It may be a Trojan. Go to your Internet Browser settings and reset it to the original set up. Remove all history. Exit and reboot the computer.
