Default iPhone 5 not receiving emails

My iPhone 5 has suddenly stopped receiving emails.

Where do I find my outlook mail details? According to Google, a quick fix might be to delete my account then re-enter the details.
That's fine 'cept I don't know what my account details are, any clues?

Settings/Mail/Accounts/ You should see your Outlook account come up. Select that account and it should present account properties which can be adjusted. On occasions my email has stopped working and Ive gone in and deleted and then re-set up the account.

    Good luck!!

kiwigeo, I seem to be missing something here.

I'm following your instructions and get this, from Accounts I get iCloud, Outlook, Add Account and Fetch new data. The next screen reveals Account with my email address, Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and reminders.

I select Account and the next screen says Email with my email address, Description Outlook, Advanced Settings. No where under any of those headings can I find my account settings.

Would you be kind enough to go through the procedure again step by step

    Many thanks,

    Ken

Ken, what version of the operating system is the phone running...the mail menu has changed a bit with OS updates over the years.

On my wife's phone (I dont have mine currently setup for email) it's Settings/Mail
/Accounts. Select accounts and the account should show up. Touch on the account and the settings should be displayed. This is how its done on my wifes phone for a hotmail (IMAP) account.

Hi ian, I am a Telstra customer, sounds like I need to trot along to a Telstra shop to get my problem fixed.

I had no idea Telstra were making changes, just briefly what were the changes they were making?

I have only a vague idea, but this is the sort of message I've been getting

You'll be moving to our new Telstra MailTM service very soon

We wrote to you a few weeks ago about moving your email to our new Telstra Mail service.
Your move will take place within 48 hours from approximately xxxxxx on xxxxxxx 2016. We'll email you when the move is complete.
You should be able to continue to use your email as usual during this time. If you do have issues accessing your email, please wait 30 minutes and try to log back in. Once you receive your confirmation email, you can then start using Telstra Mail.

We're making this move to give our customers the new features that they've asked for.

    Your email service is:

    xxxxxx@xxxx

Don't worry, your email log in details won't change
You'll keep the same email address and password for Telstra Mail. If you've forgotten your username and password, you can retrieve them at telstra.com/email.

How to prepare for your move

If you haven't already, there are a few things you can do to prepare:

What to do after the move to Telstra Mail

    • Access your email at telstra.com/email and set this up as a bookmark for easy access.
    • You won't need to update your email account or settings.
    • If you've set up rules such as blocking email addresses or linking external email accounts, you'll need to set these up again.

    We're here to help

For detailed help, please visit telstra.com/emailsupport or to track the status of your move go to telstra.com/emailmove
    See you online soon,

    Fiona Hayes

Head of Customer Service and Contact Centres

Like many I've learnt to take statements like "We're making this move to give our customers the new features that they've asked for" and "You won't need to update your email account or settings" with a very big grain of salt.
    regards from Alberta, Canada

They are moving from a simple mail server system to IMAP/SMTP system which allows syncing mail between devices. Hope this makes sense?

I finally found an article publish by Telstra entitled New Telstra Mail where it outlines the procedure for setting up a new account.

I found I had to delete my current account first, then followed their procedure, and wallah emails returned, however, I had over 500.

Under mailboxes, under POP there's 1430 bloody emails. Does anyone know how to bulk delete these?

    Ken

edit, I might just add, I started receiving emails only half way through their procedure and didn't even have to put in a password, lucky I guess.

Bugger, since fixing up my iPhone to receive emails, I've now lost all my contacts. Any clues on how to recover them.

I have all my contacts on another iPhone, can I transfer them across to the empty one, and how?

Your best option here is to use the web interface to delete the emails. Much easier there

I replied to your cross post but not sure if you want to go down that path.

Check your old phone to see where your contacts were stored.

    Settings->Contacts->Accounts

Make sure you set up all of those accounts on your new phone.
