    Default iPhone/iPad Image naming

My 2 daughters and my son often send me photos from their iPads and iPhone respectively.

Each photo is intelligently named (by Apple) PHOTO.JPG, so if I want to save them to the HDD I have to give each one a name. They reckon this cannot be changed in the Apple internal software, which if true I find incredible.

Is the a setting in the iPad/iPhone phot software to have each photo given a unique name, ie an automatically incrementing number?

Never picked up on this before so had a look through my iPad and I believe that they are correct Fred. Will look into it a bit more though.

it may well be true .. i use a photo app which is called "i photo + folder" which allows me to rename photos from their default name and email them with the new name .. it also allows me to arrange the photos in sets ... i don't really recall how much it cost but it would have unlikely to have been more than a couple of dollars

    regards david

Thanks DJ, find it rather hard to believe, but then a company that can't get the difference between portrait and landscape photos right maybe doesn't know about intelligent naming either.

Yes, they actually do that sort of thing when they think of it or have the time or inclination. But normally they take some photos and email them direct from the iPad/iPhone so they arrive all with the same name and the vertical shots laying on their side.

I only have an Android smart phone and tablet and bth can cope with naming and portrait/landscape photos.
