Have a problem with my laptop
When I start my laptop I find that the wallpaper has disappeared I just have a white screen.with all the usual Icons and a bug message across the screen labeled
"Windows Internet ExplorerCannot find file':///C:Windows/privacy_danger/index.htm'. Make sure the path or internet address is correct."
Any one know what this is about and how I get my wall paper back? I have tried the usual things with the wall paper it does come back momentarily when I turn the thing off.
Any suggestions would be greatly accepted

Thanks Ian, Zlob is the problem got it working changed my virus protection and scanned in safe mode that seemed to do the trick. Thing is every time I restart my laptop it scans on startup for spy ware and it picks up Zlob which I take care of I think I have to check the fire wall.

Phil,
I think it'll take a little more than having your virus scanner try to get rid of it
See this link http://www.spywareremove.com/removeZlob.html

Although you are deleting the bug," Restore " probably has a copy of it and it is on your computer. If this is the case you wont get rid of the bug until you temporarily disable the Restore feature.
Don't forget to enable Restore function soon as you re boot the computer, then do a scan to see if you have got rid of it.
So, simply Delete bug. Then before you reboot your computer, disable "restore" and then shut down and reboot. When you have rebooted, enable "Restore"
run your anti virus scanner to see if you have got rid of the bug.
Good luck.Reality is no background music.

Press your Winkey (thats the one down on the left bottom of your keyboard with a little windows flag on it) hold it down and press "pause break" key.
This will bring up a window with a tag on it that says "System Restore" click on that and you can disable restore from there.Reality is no background music.

PS If you dont have a "winkey" on your keyboard, go to control panel and double click the "system" icon. this will bring up the properties window and you can access Restore from there. To re-enable the feature, just do the same as above but tick the box that asks you to enable Restore.
Reality is no background music.

Looks like you may have to do a reformat.

I had thought that if the unwanted software is in one of the restore points, the thing to do is delete the restore points. I know that you can do it from disk cleanup. Not sure if it's also in the system menu.
PeterThe other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

Phil I know it a laptop battery may be keeping enough power keeping the virus in memory remove the battery leave out for min 1 hr so that everything discharges or just remove the memory chip for a few moments.
Going back many moons we had to even remove the CMOS battery for one machine not a laptop tho.
good luck
