If it's just screen captures you are after, you've already got all you need installed in the operating system.

You can use "command>shift>3" (⌘⇧3) to capture the whole screen, or if you hit "command>shift>4" (⌘⇧4) you'll get a set of cross hairs and you can drag through anywhere on the screen you want and capture just that bit.

Next, have a look in the Utilities Folder in your Applications Folder, and you'll find a utility called "Grab" also part of the standard kit, with it you can capture a selection, a window, a screen, or even a screen at intervals you set.

For viewing, Preview appears to do pretty much what Irfanview does?

If you need more, give us a hoy!

    Cheers,

    P

No worries Ray, I don't want this to be one of those weeing contests we seem to see here so often... but you'll find that pretty much anything you need to do is buried somewhere in the OS or in the applications that come standard with the Mac.

It's just a question of knowing where to look, so don't be afraid to ask!

    Cheers,

    P
