paint.net
Help needed by computer illiterate.
I used to have paint .net on my computer and found it a great program. Computer crashed and when it was returned from the fixer paint wasn't on it.
Tried downloading it today and something's wrong. On the computer it says paint.net EXE-OD3561 21 kb, so I assumke it's there but windowsXP home says it can't open it.
Didn't have any problem before. Is Gates just trying to make things awkward beause it's not Microsoft? How do I get paint to function?
Grateful for any help

Ray,
Thanks for the help but still in trouble. Everything seemed to be going OK used net framework then Micro told me it's no go because I haven't got Installer 3.1. Billy G does not make things user friendly.

jerryc, where in Melbourne are you located?
I'm going to send out an army of assimilated assassins to carve you into small pieces for saying bad things about Microsoft.
... and if that doesn't work, and if you are somewhere relatively transport-friendly, I'm going to come and fix your problem.
PM me your details.

Ron,
I appreciate your offer to come and help, but I'm a stubborn old sod. I believe the only way to learn is to do it yourself.
Position at present is there is obviously something wrong or missing in computer.
In control panel I have found I have frameworks 3.5 and installer 3.1. Another program I lost when computer crashed was google sketch up 6. Tried to download this in case someting wrong with Paint.net. Same result can't download.it.
OK what next?

From the silence it would appear I haved offended by stating I like to do things myself. If so I apologise. That was never my intent.
I need help badly. It's just I like to work from instruction and battle through. So I wait in hope.

You haven't offended me, Jerry ... it just borders on impossible to do effective diagnosis by forum postings.
To diagnose a complex problem takes a lot of checking and discussion, otherwise we all run around in ever diminishing circles confusing each other with overlapping questions and answers.
Would you be up for a phone call?

Ron,
All fixed . Seems I had too many firewalls up. Taking down the Microsoft one solved the problem.
