Default Play & record guitar thru computer

    Hello,

Just started playing my guitar again after approx 13 year break. Over that time, the change in technology available to ordinary punters is awesome.

I bought a gadget on Amazon for $25 - allows me to play my guitar and record it in real time on computer, no annoying delays. Can use Audacity or Reaper to record ( free software programs google them).

There are lots of free or demo guitar amplifier simulators that you can run as programs on your desktop.

I bought a whole Philharmonic Orchestra in a program for $50 (Miroslav Philharmonic - on special just before Christmas) - lots of recorded soundbites so that I can "play" the orchestra from my desktop.

Got a demo (free) midi guitar program - no extra pickups or anything required.

So now I can play my guitar and it sounds like anything I want it to in the orchestra - even human voices Then I can record something else on another track alongside the first.

I reckon this is amazing - My desktop is 5 years old.

So if anybody out there was wondering if they could do this the answer is "Yes you can" a little bit of googling and join a couple of forums and buy a gadget from Amazon. Bingo. Very little dollars required.

Given that 13 years ago I thought my 4 track cassette player ($400+ ? ) was wonderful technology whats available today is absolutely astonishing.

    Bill
