    Default no power

Hey, my sons puter is booting up and has power to all the fans but none to the mouse / keyboard and no signal to monitor. The bloody thing has just been fixed too, Does anyone have any ideas please, as he is lost and just doesn't know what to do?
    Thanks

    Mick,
This is a bit of a guess without actually seeing the machine but a dodgy or badly seated graphics card is almost always a show stopper.
You'll get power to the fans with or without a complete boot cycle and I'm guessing it's not getting that far.

As I said it's just a guess - hope it helps

I'd thought that would've been a blessing in light of your recent postings regarding kerbing your son's internet usage
    Cheers

Are you getting any beeps when it boots up? If so, how many?

wasn't that recent was it? And no beeps, I did notice that. 3 year warranty has still got some time left, and I'll check the graphics card seat.
Will let you know and thanks for the help.

No beeps indicates it's not booting up. But unless you're familiar with the insides of computers there's not much you can do. If you do take the top off to reseat the graphics card also gently jiggle the memory sticks.

I did that and nothing, took the ram out and tried it with each stick in either slot and took the vid card out, and the wireless network card, but the only beeps I got was when one of the ram sticks weren't slotted in properly. oh well, back for warranty

Do you get the bio screen when it starts to boot? If so, try tapping
F10 or F11, can't remember which, it will tell you at the bottom
    of the screen.

If you are not getting the bios you may have a bad mother board.

No signal at all to keyboard, it was probably related to the problem earlier this year. That was starting up and beeping, but now not at all. Thankfully we have 3 yr warranty.
    thanks all for your help.
