So the PC was running satisfactory before installing the Adobe software?
Adobe products are graphics intensive so depending on the specifications of your PC if your graphics card (that you plug your monitor cables into) is under spec for what your trying to do it will use the CPU more and slow things down.
Just depends on the specs of the computer you have and then what your trying to do with the Adobe software.
Cheers
Nathan

We had a similar problem at work on one of the computers and I heard the tech guy say something about the media analysis settings to the user but I know nothing more than that. That was a couple of PSE versions ago though.

Well I'd start by asking what kind of computer is it? Can you find out the specifications of the computer it's installed on? And the version of the software you've installed?
Cheers

Open task manager, check performance of CPU, memory, disk to see if any are showing high - say greater than 50%
If there is, sort the task list by that and see what is at the top.
Does pse create an index of your photos etc? It may be madly trying to build or update it, even while the main process is not running.

Thanks all russ57 ok I checked the task manager and CPU (did not even know you could do that) I found The Creative cloud which I knew came with PSE it was listed about 15 times as running so I went the desk top and deleted it
instant success, everything is back to what is was, I will see what happens when I open PSE next see if it still works I think it will because the Creative cloud section is for process which I don't use

Ha! Ha! I spoke to soon, booted up today and it has just updated at least I know what is causing the problem, I just have to how to solve it it was much better in the old days when you just bought a disk and and only updated if you wished too
it seems as as if I delete this PSE will not work correctly.

Have you tried their Creative Cloud Cleaner?
Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
Just looking for similar problems during a search. Seems to a relatively common problem on earlier versions installs.
