If you mean Hard drive, you could replace it wit a SSD, My hard drive died and the computer guru recommended, I replace with a SSD ( Solid State Drive ),
If it is the CPU, it most likely time for a new PC. From what I have seen they cost in the $3-400 range. Many times it can just be the CPU fan has stopped working, you can replace that for around $30 I'm sure someone much more au fait with computers will chime in.

with out knowing what you currently have hardware wise there's zero ability to recommend a replacement CPU

as china mentioned might need to nut out what you actually need replace.
are you talking hard drive... as in you need more space
or is the computer its self not working, and your looking to replace the whole "box"

My first question is. If you are using an Ipad to send this message. Can't you use the Ipad to do all of your tasks mentioned.

WRT to the PC, I would suspect the hard drive first, as mentioned by someone else.
To prove this. When you boot the PC, go straight to Bios by pushing Escape, Delete or F2 key (depends on your mother board).
If you can get into the bios, the Motherboard and CPU and Power Supply are probably OK.
From the BIOS data, write down the Motherboard Type and Cpu type. Is the Date and Time correctly displayed in BIOS. If not could be BIOS Battery failure.

What version of Windows are you running. Have you got a backup of your data from the Hard Disk Drive on the PC.

Once you answer the questions above, this can guide you into whether it is worth fixing the current box or replacing it completely. This could be a used PC.
I am not sure of your availability to PC bits in Tennant Creek.

Down here, I have just thrown out (E Waste) 2 laptops and 3 desktop PC's. I have given away a PC with 11th Gen Intel CPU with 32gb of Memory.
