Default Setting up a proxy server - how is it done?

An ex-pat mate of mine would like to watch some Australian TV online, but he gets rejected because his IP address is not from Oz. It's a bit ridiculous because the particular program he wants to watch only concerns Australians, and the story of a former well known Aussie.

So, how could he go about setting up an IP address that is Australian please?

    FenceFurniture , s
ounds like your friend is after an anonymous proxy rather than just a proxy server.
To provide an Australian IP address, the proxy will have to be located within Australia.

Do a search for 'anonymous proxy australia' to find a suitable site.

Or you can pay a monthly fee to use an australian VPN service. I use one for UK if i want to watch BBC related stuff online that is blocked due to my IP. Just keep in mind the less you pay per month the less bandwidth you get which isnt good if your trying to steam TV which is mainly in HD alot of the time. I have had a few websites in UK detect i was coming from an anonymous proxy service and still blocked the content. Where as the VPN service is actually hosted in UK so it was allowed. Just my 2 cents

    Default proxy server help

    Hi Fence Furniture,

You have already got too many replies in answer to your question and i would suggest your friend to go for VPN pro services because they are guaranteed for giving you access to Australian location on internet rather then using free services because you may not know when they stop working and your friend get interrupted while watching his favorite shows.

Having lived in Europe and tried to do exactly what your friend is doing, delbs is right - use a decent VPN, not a proxy server. I hunted for ages but couldn't find a proxy server that was even remotely fast enough to stream tv. I switched to a paid VPN and my problems got much better.

I saying that, the speed into and out of Australia was generally pretty slow, compared to most other places on this planet, so I still struggled to watch Aussie tv on a regular basis.

Or avoid proxies altogether and just torrent the program...then you don't have to find a fast proxy!

Provided the program is hosted on torrent / Usenet binary servers yes but for the programs i want to watch are only on streaming services at that time
