My Slow Puter?.
Hi All,
We were away from the 16th. to 20th. Dec. came home, opened up the Computer, had no idea what had happened, as it was So Slow, & it still is, & at this moment I'm Downloading an Email of 7Mb & only 60% has gone through in 4mins. When it was normal it would have done that approx. 4 times, Bang, & it was done, but not now.
So Question is, is your puter doing the same.
That Email is still D/L'ing, while I am writing this.
Do you have a Solution, or is it just me.
I Hope Everybody had a Great Christmas, & You are Looking Forward to a Bright New Year.Regards,
issatree.

Is it the computer or the internet connection?
Try opening something that doesn't need the internet.
If it is just the internet, check with your ISP in case your plan has been changed.
I ran over our 7Gb limit last month & Pigpond slowed my connection.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Just a thought, has your computer caught up with all the auto updates etc that were issued in the time it was off. It could be bogged down loading that.

Plus if it's windows 7 it might be catching up on checkpoints and your anti virus/firwall might be working its way through a full scan.

Still Slow.
Hi Again,
Cliff that is the Question. Had a look at Speedtest, & it says 100mbs.
Don't have 7.
It tells me there should be 20 updates, but I'm not sure if I should do all of them.
Thanks John, but I will ask around.
Thank you all for your replies. LRegards,
issatree.

As for which updates to do, here's my take:
I don't update the following:
Internet Explorer (the only thing IE is ever used for is downloading Firefox on a fresh install)
My mouse driver (I'm quite happy with a mouse with basic functionality, I don't need zoom or any of the half dozen fancy annoyances that come with the proper driver set)
Graphics card (these are frequent and large, so I tend to skip a few)
And if your connection speed is 100Mbps, then it's definitely not your internet connection! At that speed, you're faster than 98% of all connections in the world!

If it's still slow, it's time to control-alt-delete and see what is using resources in the task manager.

Hi All,
Well, what a Great Start to 2013.
Had Friends over, & in the last Mins. before leaving Showed them the Slow Puter.
To many kept Downloads, I was told, but I don't know how to put them in the
Ext, / H' Drive. Simple, & I was shown.
Bingo ??? Now I Have My Fast Puter Back.
Thank You All, & Have A Great New Year.Regards,
