    Default throw away things.

I had no ink for my canon I560 printer and went to get some the other day. It was going to cost me about $120 to get new cartridges. So I looked around the store and found a newer canon with a scanner and ink for $70.
Is it just me or does that seems absurd?

Check the size of the cartridges - a lot of those cheap printers have small volume cartridges that only allow you to print about 1/10th of the pages of the full size cartridges.

We scored a box of cartridges from a closing-down Tandy, for $2 each.

And, when I saw a Lexmark E120n (n for network) for $49 at Aldi, I grabbed it! So far we are up to page 820-ish from the starter 500-page cartridge

Have to post this so's I don't feel so bad about paying $4k for my first laser printer, many, many moons ago...

    Cheers,
    Andrew

Its bloody stupid .... we purchased a b/w laser about 4-5 years ago as we don't often print at home (thanks work and your colour A0 printer ) .... great printer as the ink never dried up.

Finally it was time to replace the original toner and I also found that it was cheaper to by a new laser than replace the toner. Not happy to throw away a perfectly good printer I just bought a 3rd party toner on Ebay for about 2/3rd of replacement price of the printer.

Wait till you have to buy a new toner cartridge for the Lexmark it is cheaper to buy a new printer.
