Default Windows folders - some sort auto, some don't - ¿Que?

Back in the days of XP you could right click and nominate how you wanted your folders updated, IIRC.

Using Win 10, when I copy or move sub-folders (and probably individual files) from one folder to another they often update the sorted sequence automatically (like an instant refresh), but with other folders they stay unsorted, which requires me to refresh the folder.

There must be a reason for this - perhaps folder type - but I can't find anything to change the setting of. I thought it might be something like the folder optimisation, but they are set to "General Items".

Does anyone have any clues please?

Maybe there is a clue in this screenie. There are two folders, and the top folder leaves "Art - ZZZ TOP" unsorted when it is dragged into it. However, the bottom folder immediately put "Art - ZZZ TOP" into the right place (they were both dragged to a blank area in the folder).

The answer to this is a little weird, especially as I had already looked at this. To me it was obvious that in the View tab of the folder you click sort by, then Name, then Ascending (or descending). I had looked at this and it was as it should be, but apparently the solution is to untick and start again, or change it to something else and change it back.
