Default "Windows.old" query, and MS clearly experimenting with LSD......

    WINDOWS 10.

I had a major update today, and btw was told W10 will not be supported after Nov 19.

My Windows folder on C drive is now about 20GB.

My Windows.old folder is now about 40GB. Note that it was created at 7.33am TOMORROW! Not around midday today, as one might expect. No, tomorrow morning is when it was created.

    Never mind.

Can I delete the Windows.old folder or at least back it up and delete it? 40GB for old stuff seems ridiclus.

WIN 10 not supported after November? This seems a bit odd as WIN 10 is not going to get replaced just updated and is supposed to be the last iteration of Windows but but not the last version because it will be updated as needed with two major updates yearly IIRC. This page might tell you what you want to know about the .old folder How to delete the Windows.old folder from Windows 10 - CNET

Don't delete Windows.old. There's a process that will let you use it if you need to (eg you had a specific app that wouldn't work and you needed to roll back). And it'll automatically clean it up after ~30 days, so unless you're critically low on space it'll sort itself out if you leave it be.

Windows 10 *Mobile* support is ending in December, is it possible you've had a Windows Phone some time in the past ? Can you share where you read that or even better, quote the actual notice (assuming that's what you were sent).

Windows 10 itself is certainly not going out of support... Specific builds will, but the fact that it just updates itself periodically means as long as that keeps working you are good

    Nope.

One of the panels that displayed during the procedure said summink like "W 10 April 2018 will not be supported after Nov 2109."

So does that then mean just that version won't be supported? (like I'd care about that...)

I do wish they wouldn't fool around with my settings when they do these major updates though...

Different versions of win10 have different end of service dates e.g. 1607 10th Apr 18, 1803 12th Nov 19. Lastest version is 1903.

yep, and from teh text that FF quoted, it is simply saying Win10 1803 ends in November 2019. So if you were still on 1803 for some reason (manually stopped updates?) that would be why you saw that.

As for the file date, part of the upgrade process must work in a different timezone base, so the converted date looks weird. Nothing to worry about.

Hmmmm, discounting that well known IT hub....Fiji.... Australia and Japan are the earliest it gets in the world.

If it’s hardware driver settings you’re referring to that can be stopped in Control Panel. I had a similar problem with some solar inverters and a weather station that need specific driver versions and not the Win10 updated versions to work.
