Thread: Wot's yer ride?

My route to work is about 2km, 600m is dirt. Swapping tires wouldn't be worth it, is there an inbetween category that'll do road and dirt?

Funkychicken,
The 2nd in charge rides one of those 4 wheel drive equivalents in a bike. I swapped a back tire for one just as wide but smooth as, and although there was a lot of complaining at first we are used to it now. The drop in friction on the road is remarkable.
Unless you are going on really rough stuff you could go for one of these tyres. Try it on the front first.

No one wants to snuggle up to a cold bag of bones.

I'm 6ft2in in old money and weigh 70klg, trained most days all my life, first cycling then swimming (surf club) which led me into running.
Continued running until I broke my left foot (stress fracture, I thought I knew better than the doctors) had to have my foot rebuilt with titanium staples and ferrule (for sinews) reduced to walking for a couple of years, had sold all five of my bikes and moved up from Sydney to Brisbane.
Getting a bit twitchy these days. Wife has asked me why I have been looking in all the bikeshop windows lately.Shhhh!
