CF 80 Weaco fridge / freezer Fault
Hi all,
Just need some advice to fix the following issue.
Connected the unit (240v via 12v adaptor) after some time in storage. The green power light is on I set temp for -6 after reaching desired temp the green light is replace by the compressor off orange light. After about 5 or 6 minuets, the power goes off completely?? If I jiggle the power chord, the display come back on albeit with the compressor off orange light. I tried this with a direct connection to 12v battery but still the same issue.

Is the lead faulty? Does the 12v cable still have the cigarette lighter type plug? If yes, I hate them & replace with an Anderson plug for reliability.

Hi
just saw this request after some time away from the forum.
Try the CF80 on mains operation, using the original mains cable, or a replacement IEC cable (common).
The green LED ("Power Available/Compressor Running") does change to orange if power is still available (Mains or !2V DC) and the "set temperature" is reached by the compressor.
When running on mains, "Bump Test" the frig to see if the Green?Orange LED goes out or flickers
If so then you possible have an intermittent type fault on the Operating Panel, or internal wiring, or an internal control card,
The Power LED is powered by an internal control card, not from the BD35 compressor, so the frig compressor should still run even if the LED is OFF or flickering.
If the fault only occurs on DC (even if run from a mains to DC adaptor), then as another has said, you possibly have a DC cable fault or a crook CF80 DC input socket, or a dodgy DC supply, or a combination.
These type of frig require a solid 12 V DC from a well charged battery.
Not 11.5 volts, 12 volts.
You are wasting your time with a half charged battery or suspect DC cable.
If you run them on DC via a cigarette lighter outlet then you probably will have a bad day with all sorts of dodgy connection and voltage drop issues.
Best to hard wire the 12V DC cable via a screw down connection strip, or use Anderson type connectors.
Good advice from Pete57.
And try another DC cable.
If all the above is vague or not helpful, try running the frig on "Emergency Override" and see if the frig cools and the compressor does not stop, and ignores the "set" temperature. (Switch bypasses the thermostat action).
Wiggle the DC connector at the frig, then the cig lighter plug, and see if the compressor stops.
Please report back and tell us the results.
