Default Aldi shop vacs are back

I know these shop vacs have received pretty good reviews here, so I thought people would be interested to know that they are back starting this Saturday. Still $89.

They also have disposable bags and replacement filters for them as well. First time for either to the best of my knowledge. Looked at my old grey ALDI vac and the filter appears to be different to the catalogue pic, but will buy one on Sat to check and buy some more if suitable replacements, and advise here. Suggest anyone buying a new vac gets themselves some filters as well in case they don't come back.

Default Filter cartridges ARE compatible with early grey coloured vacs

Hi. Reporting back on the filter cartridges. The early grey units use a deeper cartridge with a metal infill disk to seal the bottom of the cartridge. The picture in the catalogue shows a shorter filter with a plastic twist cap to seal the bottom.

I have purchased a replacement cartridge and installed it properly on the older series vac without any issues. The original style cartridge is longer so the metal infill clears the support moulding for the later style twist cap. When the new cartridge is properly seated, the support moulding is about 10mm proud of the element, and the supplied twist cap fits into place and locks the elementin place and seals the bottom.

Didn't look at the bags as I use the ShopVac 30l bags as suggested some time ago. These used to be available at Bunnings but have been discontinued there but are available at Masters and some of the car part chains. I believe that the ALDI bags should fit both early and later series units as they just hang off the inlet nozzle in the can.

    Hope this helps.

I didn't know how those bag filters would work, now I know, thanks for that.

I fitted one of the new Aldi filters, at first I was a bit worried when the top came off when I opened the packet, but I soon figured it out.

Having very recently made a rolling carrier incorporating a cyclone from Oneida perched on the top, I was wishing to replace the oft cleaned original pleated filter.

It will be interesting to see how this new filter fares with the Oneida cyclone working all the time.

I now have a (for me) dream set-up, with a complete rolling box with the Oneida cyclone on the top and an Aldi foot switch.

Next side project is a sanding box.

    Mick.
