Not very impressed with Aldi at the moment. Last week of August there was a fishing backpack I asked my son in Melb to get. No stock. Asked my uncle and sister to look in other Aldis. Answer was that the backpack model was never brought into Victoria. Sounds like false advertising to me. I feel incensed enough to complain to Fair Trading.

I bought a water blaster a few years back and it still works well. Looks different from the current one though.

Enough pressure to get stubborn moss off pavers Oz?

Dunno. I've used it for cleaning moss off timber pretty effectively, and cleaning hard gunk of outdoor tiles. You can adjust a flat spray or a direct jet, and the direct jet just takes timber off I've found when cleaning the tiles that I need to hold the nozzle within a couple of inches for it to work properly. I normally give them a quick scrub down with an outdoor cleaner then use the jet to clean it off, which works a lot better.
I've never use a Karcher or other brand so I don't know how it compares. The hose on mine is pretty flimsy, but seems to hold up. A friend at work has a Karcher and he has split his (presumably much more solid) hose, so I think it's fair to say that it doesn't really compare to a $300 pressure cleaner. Not that you would expect it too
For my purposes, it works well enough. If I wear it out, I may buy a better brand, but then again I've gotten probably 3 years of very intermittent use out of it so it's probably wasted money for me to spend much more.
Cheers,

Today I purchased the water blaster - it's crackerbloodyjack mate! Stripped the moss off the pavers easily (except for the really tough black spots - wonder if they are slag inclusions?). Value score (quality to price ratio) is 100%. Get one.
Also picked up the saw horses which are all steel, powder coated, and with a non-slip rubber top. No lateral movement, but a little longitudinal movement which may be unerving if you're standing on them. A brace from one leg to the diagonal opposite should fix that.
Extension poles - haven't checked them yet, but they're a purchase for 'ron anyway (no known use atm). They are damned heavy, if that means anything.
Hot air gun - haven't checked but feels like reasonable quality. The nozzles are crap quality but two of them will focus the air stream, the two that are combined as a paint stripper won't last three seconds (coz I reckon I'm gonna stomp on them: a fitting end to some Chinese HSS)
No tools at Audis next week, and thank gawd for that!

Remote Control Sockets are back
On Wednesday 19th Oct the remote control sockets are back. I bought a set of these for the Barn on spec, and finally started using them a couple of months ago - they are sensational! My 4 main tools are all remotely controlled, and it will also give you the tool/vac triggering (double adaptor into remote socket, tool and vac into adaptor). I have an in-line switch on the dangerous tools to prevent accidental start-up by either leaning on the button, or pressing the wrong one. It's a great, great system. I use them for Table Saw, Router Table, Drill Press/Vac and SCMS/Vac.
The main reason for the last one is a bit more subtle - for cleaning up the work shop when I just want the vac, being able to do it with a remote is fantastic.
These look the same but different to mine. I have 3x 2400w sockets, and 1x 300w dimmable. These look like they are 2 + 2, so you may need more than one set - you should be able to run 4x 2400watt off the one remote control I reckon (I am). There is also the facility to power everything off/on with one button.
DO YOURSELF A REAL BIG FAVOUR - GET SOME! Even if you have to buy two sets to get 4x 2400watts that's still only $12.50 per socket for huge convenience. BTW, the remote works all over the place, unlike others that have to be pointed within half a degree of the receiver.

Have two lots from last sale one lot in the workshop running dusty and the Nova 3000 lathe
I was using one on the modem WiFi but it keeps resting it when the button is pressed and clears the modem access memory somehow.

I probably should have added that they're pretty useless with a zero volt release tool.

Also back is the universal remote. I bought one of these last time and they are brilliant. With a push of one button it turns on and off all my appliances at once (TV, sound system, DVD player, HDD, decoder etc). You just plug into computer, tell it what appliances you have and it programs it for you, plus you can program individual buttons.
Mind you, I did get my GenY son to set it upNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

Interesting to see that the Aldi specials, like the remotes etc, are now split up by some starting on Wednesday and others on Saturday.
