Ok did the shopping today with LOML ok so I went so i could get to see and buy what I wanted (who needs food).
1 Marble chopping board for flat surface for a number of things, marking out, sharpening tools, flattening stones.
2 packs of remote light switches one for workshop one for in doors, dimmers not powerfull enough for machines rest work fine on 1hp dusty & Nova 2hp lathe.
Picked up one of the sensor thingys for finding studs, metal and wiring works well for nails in wood.
Spotted a few oxes of Chisels at 1/2 price from a few weeks ago, engine stand, block n tackle.

Yeah, me too wheelin..
I bought the Aldi rotary tool for shmbo...($24 with flex shaft and collets and bits).
.I'll take it to the shed tomorrow and give it a hard time and let you know how it survives..
I don't expect it to perform like the dremel equivelent ($175) but I am still constantly surprised by Aldi quality..
will let you know..
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

I gave it a bit of a workout this morning.
using a fairly course burr I played around with some red cedar (soft) and silver ash (moderately hard) on slow and high speeds and it seemed to work just fine.
the flex shaft seems of reasonable quality and doesn't complain too much when run at high speed.
it has the usual collection of accesories that are mostly useless for woodwork..(the extra collets and the two mandrels are handy)
I like the shaft lock on the flex shaft..pull back the hand grip and it exposes the chuck and locks shaft ...(this may rub on the chuck when being pushed hard..see pic)
all in all, from my brief testing I reckon it's a bargain for $24.. recommended
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

Thanks John yep only thing different is the colour mine is grey yes even have the colletts I recently ditched the plastic box and have stored everything ATM in containers and draw. These plastic cases are becoming ARPIA so much wasted space.
John Bunnings have a set of carving/roughing bits approx $10 and some time ago at STWWS i picked up Dremel bits Tungsten Carbide set
High speed set
McJings have some great bits available not sure if they are all on their web site.
