Yep. I never imported tools but I used to buy a lot of gear from O/S for my other hobby (photography). Some brands like Fuji honor their warranties worldwide, some others like Canon don't, and try to force you to pay a lot more to buy locally. I never worried about their warranties, it got to a point where I had saved so much from ordering directly from retailers in Hong Kong and US that I could put my next two cameras straight in the rubbish bin and I'd still be ahead. Plus in my experience cameras generally don't break easily, I bought my first SLR used in 1992 and it still works.
