Thumbs down Bacteria from Pinr Plantations

This is one the Government have been trying to keep under wraps for some time.
As you may know most species of animal vgetable will attempt to enhance their own chances of propagation by eliminating other species, pinus radiata is no exception and it has been discovered that over the past one hundred or so years a bacyeria has eveolved that will attack eucylypt.
The bacteria is in the form of a microscopic spore and is airborne something like the dreaded botrytus that grape growers fear.
Where this one is different is that it is hydroscopic and when it lands on any other timber othjer than pine, it attaches it self and self replicates and enters the fibres of the timber and ultimately destroys it. The timber in question does not have to be standing and it is equally destructive to dried timbers. This makes it a threat to any structure or finished piece of timber that is not pine. To date this is only confined to the northeast of Victoria but there is no doubt that it will spread. There is no remedy for the bacteria at this stage.
The effected timber will ultimately turn sponge like when the bacteria has done its wicked deed and will have no structural strength.
Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.
