Melbourne T&WWW Show
I had an email this morning stating that the Melbourne show could be moving to a new location and date for this year. I had a look at their website and sure enough it is all true. http://impressiveexhibitions.com.au/...e-details.html
I hope it is successful, but at least the parking will be a lot easier than Jeff's shed.

Sounds great.
Never mind free parking, I could even walk there, but it might be a bit hard getting home with any goodies I buy.
Gets the from me.

Because of the date change Carroll's won't be attending this years Melbourne show. I've heard a few other exhibitors won't be attending either. Wonder what prompted the change? Impressive Exhibitions are less than in my view.

Scott would you prefer they just shut the shows down to give everyone a chance to appreciate the work that they actually do?

By the way, Impressive Exhibition have let rumour and innuendo spread the word that the Melbourne show has changed. To date I haven't received any correspondence and I'm on their mailing list. I think those who have supported the show in the past deserve an explanation as to why the dates have changed, especially when it conflicts with other dates on the woodworking calendar.

Scott ive been going to the shows for well over 12 years and working at the Sydney Canberra and Melbourne shows for over 4 years in that time I have seen the effort that goes into these shows by liz and rick both physically and mentally.
All I ever see on this forum is blokes bitching and moaning about how terrible the shows are, Pretty sure ive never seen a thread thanking Liz for effort she puts in trying to please both customers and exhibitors.

We'll agree to disagree bench1holio. If you make a commitment to put on these shows then it is incumbent upon you to know what you're doing.
By the way, did you know UBeaut (the owner of these forums) isn't going because of the date changes? Plus a few other well known Woodturners who usually demonstrate won't be demonstrating because they'll be at Phillip Island.

I do not know the reason for the change of date or venue.
Caulfield Racecourse allows for exhibitions both indoors and out. It is across the road from Caulfield railway station and can be accessed from tram route 3 or 3A, or with a bit more of a walk, route 67. There are also a number of bus routes that are close by or service the railway station. Did they also mention car parking is available, both on street and off street and the latter for this show looks like it will be at no cost. There should be no shortage of on site parking, just that you may need to walk further depending on demand at the time of arrival.
The date is mid September. The prior Saturday the site is booked for an event, the Saturdays after the site is being used for horse racing (strange that) including the Caulfield Cup. The indoor venue is then likely to be booked for University exams.
You can please some people sometimes but you can not please everyone all of the time.

U-Beaut isn't going because of the clash with Down Under Turn Around which we have been attending since it's inception, the same as we have attended Timber & Working With Wood Shows since their inception.
We would love to be at both but we are forgoing the one at which we actually make money for the one we have been committed to for some 20 odd years and hasn't changed it's date and has people flying in from NZ & USA to attend and can't be moved.
People making rash and slanderous statements on this forum need to take a hard look at what they say as it could come back to bite them on the bum.
Liz and the rest of the wood shows team have given their all to keep these shows up and running and yes there have been some problems but they doesn't mean they haven't given their all and more. In the 25 years I have been associated with the shows I can honestly say the current organisers are the most dedicated and and by far the hardest working team that there has ever been. Not only that but they have listened to suggestions and acted upon them to change the shows for the better. They inherited a show that was on its last legs and breathed new life into it. They are not killing the shows.... The internet and cynical, complaining, bloody minded people are the ones who are killing the shows.
I hope this move proves to be absolutely fantastic and that it goes some way towards reviving the shows. I know it won't have been done lightly or on a whim as the move back to MEC/Jeffs Shed (although some complained loud and long) was the best turnover for the shows and exhibitors in a number of years.
Doesn't matter what happens there will always be someone ready to complain and rage against it. As Liz said elsewhere "Dammed if you do and dammed if you don't""
For goodness sake.If you don't like it don't bitch about it. Vote with your feet and don't go.
If you do like it do the same. Vote with your feet and go to the show.
If you have never been to a show, get off your but and get there you'll love it.
Neil

If it pleases you bench1holio (and I'm certain it will) I'll be at Phillip Island that weekend. It's a pity, because of this scheduling debacle I will miss the opportunity to network and connect with some valuable friends and suppliers. Mind you, I will be at Phillip Island supporting the mainstays of the wood turning fraternity, Carroll's Woodcraft and others. I'm sure the numbers at the Woodworking Show will be significantly depleted because of this.
And I refuse to be a sycophant to certain online services. I will always exercise my opinion without fear or favour.-Scott

Thanks Neil and others for the sensible and positive comments! To Scott like Doug on the other thread seems like nothing we can do to please you - so over and out!! Now fully understand why the previous owners of the shows would have nothing to do with the forum!

The following is a reminder for everyone and is taken directly from Forum Rules:
To all members of Woodwork Forums.
If you intend to denigrate a business or person on these forums please think long and hard before doing it. You might also like to check with your lawyer and your accountant to see if you have enough money to fight the law suit that may ensue.
It would also be a good idea to make sure that your facts are right and that you have reliable witnesses that are prepared to go to court for you.
It would also be a good idea to reacquaint yourself with the following sections of our Woodwork Forums Rules.
The owner, administrators and moderators of Woodwork Forums have the right to delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever. By clicking on the Agree button when you register to become a member of Woodwork Forums: you agree to remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, you also agree to indemnify and hold blameless Woodwork Forums, U-Beaut Enterprises the administrators, moderators, and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).
The owner and head administrator of Woodwork Forums reserves the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you. We also reserve the right without prejudice to ban any member from posting or using the Bulletin Board.
By clicking on the Agree button when you register to become a member of Woodwork Forums you warrant that: you will not use these forums to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy,or otherwise violate any law. You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by Woodwork Forums or you have been given express permission in writing by the copyright owner.
Please be assured, if it comes to the crunch and someone wants to sue me or any of the administrators or moderators, for something a non thinking member has posted, I will hand over every bit of identifying information I have to the authorities without blinking an eye.
These forums are for you to use in a spirit of help, understanding and friendship. From time to time there will be the odd misunderstanding and some debates may get a bit hot this is a given and your prerogative. However over recent years there have been a number of posts that have gone way overboard, a few slanderous post and personal attacks. I have personally negotiated away more than a couple of possible slander suits for members, that could well have cost them many thousands of dollars and in one instance the possible loss of a house and other valuable assets. You may think you are anonymous on these forums but believe me you are not.
I and the other administrators and moderators have had a gut full of hassles caused by a few numbskull's. From now on if you want to make a big statement, base it on fact, if you want to pick a fight, make sure you can handle what comes back your way, if you wish to denigrate or slander a business or person be prepared to get sued. I am washing my hands of these matters and so are all our administrators and moderators.
Objectionable posts will be deleted and repeat offenders and antagonisers will be banned. If you have a problem with this, please feel free to leave these forums and go wreak havoc elsewhere.
