Default U-Beaut at Timbecon Melb this weekend

U (that's me) and Beaut (Pauline) will be at Timbecon's new Melbourne shop this Saturday (18th April) for their opening sale.

Will be talking to people and help out with info about our products. I will do on demand demo's and help out with as much info as people require.
Probably be focusing on our new Aussie Oil with demos of small hand rubbed pieces and using it as a friction polish on the lathe. also demo and and help out with questions and help on our full range of polishing products.

Timbecon is well stocked with U-Beaut stuff so there won't be a problem getting any if needed.

I believe the new showroom is well stocked with all sorts of goodies for woodies so it could be well worth making a special trip to Coburg North if for no other reason but to show support for a new business and to pick up a good bargain or few.

    WHERE:
    14 Roosevelt Street, Coburg North
    Ph. 03 9939 8050

    WHEN:
    Saturday 18th April
    9am - 1pm.

    WHAT:
All items in the shop are on special with a minimum 10% off everything (with the exception of the Triton range).
Pauline and I look forward to seeing a few of the locals there. Hope there's a big turn out to this special event.

    Cheers - Neil

Spent yesterday morning at Timbecon as above. Great to see a few forum members turn up and quite a few from different woodworking clubs and Men's Sheds. Had them travel from as far away as Mansfield and Wodonga. Did a few demos and spoke to plenty of interested people.

    My Impression:

    • Great size showroom floor space.
    • Well set out.
    • Lots of machinery (lathes thicknessers, saw benches, jointers, dust extractors, etc etc.)
    • Lots of turning tools and accessories
    • A massive range of clamps of all types and sizes.
    • Great and diverse range of finishes (as well as ours) including some new eco wood-stains I haven't seen before
    • Lots of good quality hand tools
    • Plenty of hoses and an array of fittings for dust extractors
    • A massive range of Robertson (Sachys) square head screws and drivers.
    • Great knowledge of products and their use
    • Friendly and helpful staff
    • Good prices
    • Lots, lots, lots more I didn't get a chance to have a good look at.

    Pro's:
    • All the above
    • Intimate knowledge of their products
    • They are their own importers if machinery so not beholding to anyone else for supplies, etc. Meaning if you buy it today you will get it today or delivered as soon as you want it. No waiting for weeks or months to get it from a third party. You are dealing directly with the importer.
    • Northern Suburbs

    Cons:
    • Northern Suburbs - I have nothing against the Northern Suburbs I just feel there could be a more central easier to access location from all of Melb
    • one way street (enter from Gaffney St exit Charles St - Not shown on most maps)
    • Limited parking during the week (5 off street parking in front of shop) harder to park in busy street. Saturday parking was great because most of the other businesses in the street were closed leaving the street almost empty.

I wouldn't let any of the cons above put me off visiting their showroom. It's definitely well worth the trip and a visit.

My and Pauline's congratulations to Hague for all the work he has put in to getting the showroom/shop up and running. Good to see Ross and Anne over from WA to help out with the opening

This new showroom/shop will be great for woodworkers throughout Melbourne, Victoria, Southern NSW and probably the entire east coast.
TIMBECON IS BACK and better still in Melbourne for the first time.

    Cheers - Neil

Good to see your appraisal, Neil.

I was not able to visit yesterday due to another commitment but will have a look in the next few days. They are just 15 minutes from me so it will be a welcome change to not have to spend two hours across town and back to Carba-tec and even longer to H & F.

I fully concur with Neil's thoughts. The place was very well stocked and I am told there is still more to come. Not sure where they are going to put it as it's already packed to the rafters.
The biggest downside for me was getting from the freeway along Bell St, but Hague has set me straight on a much better way (will know next time).
They will be out in force at the T&WW Show again this year.
It was great to have a chat with Neil and Pauline. After being shown the merits of their new Aussie Oil, I just had to have some.
Congratulations to Hague and family on a great set up. Must have been an enormous amount of work, and then there was the addition to the family just before opening to top it off.

I grew up in that area and now live nearby so know it like the back of my hand.
Gaffney St is much better than Bell St but be careful of the roundabout at Sussex St where the new Coles complex is being built. They will need traffic lights there.

    Hope that helps someone.

Damn, I just have to sort out my priorities in life. I was in Brisbane for the birth of my daughter's first baby. While I was there my mother, who also lives in Brisbane spent two days in hospital after a fall. I really should have gone to the Timbecon opening sale instead,

Well anyway, sorry I missed the opening, I am sure that I can get there soon enough. Thanks Neil for the report.

    Cheers
