We are bringing to Canberra some timber stock very rarely seen in Australia, let alone Canberra..
We have salvaged :
*a magnificent large river oak tree..(cassuarina cunninghamiannii)..stunning pink, purple, blackish lines with a creamy sapwood full of pinky spidery medullary rays..absolutely awesome..in thin boards for box makers, bowl blanks, spindle 50mm, 75mm & 100mm square
*a stunning (also large) Rose she oak tree..(cassuarina torulosa), really dense, stunning red / orange with a strong sap where left on,just beautiful timber in same format as the river oak..this timber is very very beautiful.
* swamp mahogany (euc obliqua..I think) this Byron bay born tree was cut down due to house encroaching problems..it has been cut up to 200 mm thick as bowl blanks, spindle and some thin boards..this timber has much figure and a magnificent red colour with a strong browny sap..
*white cedar...just awesome quarter sawn thin boards, bowl blanks and spindle, the prettiest white cedar I have seen.
* silky oak...very beautiful southern silky also in thin boards, thicker planks, bowl blanks and spindle
*Black bean...beautiful, perfect quarter boards
*walnut thin boards...flawless
*rosewood boards...stunning
*Aust red cedar "oblique" cut cheese / breadboard slices
*large camphor "oblique breadboard / platter even coffee table boards...very beautiful
*camphor from very mature trees as bowl blanks, spindle,thin boards
*mango from a massive tree, cut up to 200mm thick in bowl blanks, some thin boards
*Jaccaranda in large bowl blanks..suitable for embellishing with pyrography or awesome for carving, up to 150mm thick
*a great variety of wooden toy plans...some really awesome plans
*musical instrument timber suitable for ukelele's, guitars
There will some awesome timber, one of the best varieties seen in natives during last 20 years at the shows....
