Default U-Beaut's Sydney T&WWWShow SPECIALS

Pauline and I are in Sydney ready to set up Wed & Thurs for the Timber & Working With Wood Show this wekend. We will be on Stand No 72 this year.

Everything will be discounted on our stand for the duration of the show.

This is an opportune time to purchase our products as our prices will never be this low again.

As of May 1st there has been a price increase of around 20%, pretty much across the board on all our products. This will help in some way to alleviate the massive increases of up to 60% on most of our raw products over the last few years.

We have threatened a price rise for a couple of years but have held off. This time it is definite. This was our first price increase in any of our products since Oct 2000. Probably almost a record for any business.

As a final fling we are offering an extra special discount of an EXTRA 10% OFF our already heavily discounted products for any one who brings the below pic of Woodie with them, is wearing a Forum Cap or buys a Forum Cap or U-Beaut Polishes cap.
.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the show, You don't have to buy anything from us if you don't want, but at least come and say G'day. We don't bite.....well Pauline don't, I just growl a lot.

Cheers - Neil

G'day Neil. Just post the Hobart WWW show. A question if you don't mind me asking. Does the financial return for your trip to Hobart make it a worthwhile trip? Or is it more a marketing exercise for you mate? Just curious is all. It didn't seem to be as well attended this year as the last time I went.
Cheers
Mike

Hi Neil, will be there on Friday to pay for my 2 forum hats and restock the Ubeaut shelf. Will leave the current VERY sad forum hat hanging off the dusty switch in the shed.

Shedhand - Hobart costs us around $6,000 including show costs, accommodation, meals, travel, etc this doesn't include lost production time etc.

We sold enough in Hobart to pay for half of the stand and nothing more, if we take out production costs we paid for a little under quarter of the stand. We go to that and all shows to promote the products and get new purchasers for our distributors. After 20 years of doing these shows we are still selling about 80% of our products at the shows to people who have never used or even heard of our products.

Without us doing the shows there would be very few new users introduced to our products and we wouldn't be continuing to grow. We hardly ever come away from a show with much more than just breaking even.

Of the 60 odd shows we have done over the last 20 years we have had maybe 6 shows where we have made a small profit. Maybe a dozen where we have lost up to $5,000 and a couple more where we have lost more.

Yes it is promotion. No it definitely ain't a money making exercise and sorry but I doubt we would ever go back to Hobart again even if there is another show which I also doubt.

Too much loss for too many and strangely, this year we personally, ran into many parochial people who didn't want to deal with mainlanders. Weird I know but none the less very unwelcoming and something we have never encountered anywhere else.

OK. Got that off the chest...... Next.

Cheers - Neil

PS best part of Tas this year was seeing some of the members, catching up with a few friends and the 5 days we had off after the show.

G'day mate. Yeah, that's why I asked the question. I went around the displays about a dozen times in total (the last looking in vain for the $600 roll of cash i dropped somewhere (talk about a bloody disastrous way to end my weekend of woodworking bliss). It occurred to me that many of the stands were very poorly attended by the mob (lots of tyre kickers) Carbatec excluded. I spent a small fortune including a modest amount at the Ubeaut stand. I must also say though that I detected a bit of a lack of interest on your part in the proceedings which spurred me to ask the original question. Its a pity that the locals are so bloody parochial - "think local act local" - describes the attitude perfectly. Maybe you could fake a cast eye and a cleft palate then they'll think you are a local. Mention global to this lot and they think its a brand of plastic water tank (it is a local brand of water tank - Yodel for a Global is the catch-call). We always seem to miss out or get deserted by mainland based exhibitors for the same old reasons. Anyway I reckon you have a brilliant product and at least its stocked locally. I certainly spread the word at any opportunity (suck, suck ). The other thing is that the advertising for the event is very poor in the local media. It needs a more professional PR outfit to push it. But I guess that costs.
Oh well, that's my tuppence worth. Good luck in Sydney. Wish I could be there as I guess it's a much better event than ours but I'm as broke as a bride on her wedding night after my trip to the Hobart event and my recent trip to Melb.
Cheers
Mike
