Went there today and had a ball. Met heaps of forumites at morning tea/lunch/afternoon tea outside, but also whilst walking around.

No "hands on" that I saw. Pretty much the same as the wood show, but less wood, although extra stalls for cars, welders, epoxies, some stalls more aimed for women (handbags, hanging trinkets + others).

Spent a fortune, certainly more than intended, like any other wood show , I'll post under woodys events

I'll second that "spent too much!"
My thanks to Carrol at Carbatec. Bought the Leigh 24" Super jig and 'extras'
Poor lady had to put up with me asking heaps of questions. Then when she went to demo a dovetail picked up the wrong router with the wrong bit in ti and proceded to cut a straight pin with the dovetail jig!!
At least the exterts get it wrong sometimes too.
I went with the super jig over the Gifkin even after the demo. I was more impressed with the versatility of the Leigh. I hope it will be the right decision in the long run.
Only problem was that they are not in stock and I have to wait a while!

Not one place would allow a hands on go at the equipment. Must be the insurance aspect.

Found out at the ticket office that there is a 'special' - two for one but it was in the Courier mail and we didn't know about that so "sour grapes" to those in the know.

    Overall not a bad show.

Was there first thing this morning until around 1pm. Much quieter than the working with wood show earlier this year. Plenty of parking undercover, no queue at the door just walked straight in. Met up with one of the turners I know from up here in Brisbane and he was complaining at the lack of people and had only sold 3 items yesterday. I didn't get much chance to catch up with many forumites, had a chat with Funky chicken, tried to catch up with Star but missed him somehow. Sorry Peter.
I bought mostly pen stuff. 15 Streamlines kits couple of Flora and Fauna kits from Carrolls and an acrylic blank which took my eye. Bought a nice snake skin blank from Addictive pens and one of those glittery ones too.
Saw Carl out back but he was doing a demonstration at the time so didn't get to chat with him.
I did see a guy having a hands on go at one of the router stalls but can't remember which one.
Used my special offer coupon from the forum for $15 a couple so that was good, Guy behind me paid $30 for him and his lady.
I think the show was good, mostly timber stuff but some other there too if you were interested. Was great to be able to get to the tables without too much of a crowd but guess thats not too good for the sellers.
I did see a couple of bargains on the Carba-tec stand. Their jointers had at least $200 off the usual price and a couple of reasonable priced drill presses on special too.
Didn't spend too much but enough. Not sure at this stage if I would go to both the working with wood show and the hands on one again in the same 12 month period but when the time comes around, who knows.
All in all had a great day. would like to have caught up with a few more formites but I just didn't have enough time to do all that I wanted.
    Reality is no background music.
    Cheers John

    Hi Lyle
Sorry to hear you didn't see the 2 for 1 offer in the Courier Mail! There was also a forum offer as well for members to get a discount entry, here's the link for anyone else https://www.woodworkforums.com/f190/2...-hands-105827/

    Cheers

From Ipswich so don't get Courier mail....
Too late for the 2-1 deal. Even showed them the forum ID but no luck.

    Maybe next year.
Anyone know why the Ipswich woodwookers weren't there???
