I'm starting to understand it better and still want this lot....
CV1800 RH Cyclone body
15" blower Housing<O</O
15" impeller.
Will cost me $845 for that lot.
Postage . Excuse me. I've been a bit slow picking up how much of a saving we would be making on this. As I understand it now, Instead of about a grand in shipping it'll only cost me $345 if we group buy.
As for the motor, I feel more than confident to find something that'll suffice here. As long as its got plenty of power. 5hp number.
Be great if we could get the numbers up. Sounds like theres no way of getting something this good here in Australia without making it ourselves.
The commercial average versions here, like from leda or carpatec etc...will cost about as much as buying a Clearvue setup anyway through this bulk buy. So why not get something worth while I say.
Is there something I've overlooked thats holding this up ? ....cause this thread seems to be dying.

For those who have bought direct from overseas in the past this seems like a good deal. The import duty and GST may add 15% if over the limit but that should be more than offset by the freight savings, besides we are hit with those costs regardless of the way it comes into the country.
It would be good to see a few more interested, however for myself the mini should be a vast improvement on my current sander dust collection. I already have a reasonable collection system for the larger machines with a standard 2H.P. collector and dust dog, but if starting again the cyclone would be a first choice.

I hope it goes the distance.
I'm wanting:
-18" cyclone
-16" fan and housing.
The following have put their hands up (maybe) for a mini:
BrettC, SteveMcM, Franklin, johnc, jmk89, hugh reid2
The following have put their hands up (maybe) for a cyclone (sizes vary, fans vary):
Franklin, Scally, hugh reid2, apricotripper,
and a few more are interested ( 'depending', cyclone only etc)
mac_man_luke, gregoryq,
so it's only 6 mini and 3 18" with fans , one 14"(?)with fan and an 18" without, but we needa register, or something.
I did try cross linking but got told off (nicely), but now we have prices can we give people a more definite option? A post with prices and contact details?
I think a few will want a mini at that price
Does anybody know how to organise things like this?

I wanted to have some prices for you tonight before I went on vacation, but I'm behind as usual. I'll be gone till Tuesday but I promise I'll get some numbers worked up for you guys and see if we can get something together here. I appreciate all of the input and I realize that this is a rather difficult project to organize, but from a shipping cost standpoint it's worth the effort. As an example, I just quoted Jake a price for a CV1800. Without the filters or motor, the shipping cost is 999.00. With the filters and motor the shipping cost is over 1500.00. Rick Wynn was quoting a ocean shipping cost of about 340.00 including the motor and filters....in quantities of 5. I'll be back to you on Tuesday. In the mean time, do we need to be looking at an ocean shipment to Sydney or Melborn? The prices we got were from Door to Port which means that the shipment would be picked up here and delivered to a port. Someone would have to go to the port, get the shipment through customs (paying duties, taxes etc.) and then be responsible for disbursing the merchandise properly.

I think whoever does it should be compensated for their time.
Somebody whose savy with this sort of thing be great. (which kinda excludes me unfortunately. I don't even have a credit card.bank deposits/cash/money orders is all I know )
Need confirmation on that motor though Ed. Got to know if that Leeson 5hp, 415v, 3phase motor will work on 50 Hz.
If it can, then I think you'll generate plenty of interest here for the big cyclone unit, ontop of the interest you already have. Because there won't be any risk of combatibility problems etc. Ready to go straight from the box.
There'd be plenty of workshop/joinerys (with 3 phase)that be interested in a superior system like yours I'd say, at affordable prices. Lot of popularity for your products it seems.
Might be able to get my boss interested as well. We have a DE problem. Its a joinery. But, I know, he'd be only interested if he didn't have to worry about a motor not fitting or functioning properly. ie. doesn't want to muck about (like many I'd say including myself)
In anycase, I hope it happens, because it looks like a good opportunity for all to me.

Why arn't these things being sold here now anyway ? I'm not a salesman, but if theres a huge savings to be made for us, then why hasn't some ambitious distributer brought these in already ?

probably just because of the motor. I don't know.
But if I had the money, and was more into sales, and I new the motor would work, I'd buy 10 of the 1800cv cyclones (complete packages, motors filters the whole lot) myself to get this cyclone into my shed as soon as possible at cheap shipping, and just sell off 9 of them around Australia Reakon they'd be out of my house within a couple weeks of arrival. Could make a little earn on top of it to cover my time.
gota know if the 415v 3phase 5hp unit will work on 50Hz like mentioned it may back on page 1.
talk to you latter. gota try and organise this shed.

As I said, I'll be gone from Friday to Tuesday, but I'm going to have my son Matt verify whether or not our 5 HP Leeson motor will work on your 415 V power. It's rated at 230/460V 60 Hz and 380V 50 Hz. Matt will check it tomorrow and possibly put a post up here.

It's interesting, I've just got back from the yard and saw something down there that made me think of this thread.
I noticed that The Woodmizer Band mill at the yard has a Leeson motor on it so they must make motors compatible with our power supply, this one looked to be about 1 to 3 horses, would have to have a closer look after hours or during a lunch break when I'm there as they aren't going to stop the mill whilst I climb over it and jot down numbers off a nameplateCheers
