FenceFurniture, it's mine, I'll take it, PM me for account details with post to Caboolture Qld 4510. I seem to have too much money due to tax and a SWMBO is such a nice girl.

    Default NSW is good

I have had to make a couple of trips down to NSW recently and each time I have returned to the sunshine state to find the woodworking fairy has brought more gifts.

The first time, I was rewarded with the MCW bench vice and this time the HNT Jointer plane and Tail vice as shown below.

I am of a mind to make more sorties into NSW.

All good and very pleased with my woody goodies.

Whoa! How did you age the Sotted Gum for the bench so quickly? It looks at least 10-15 years old - not at all like you felled it last week (which is why you went to Cockroach country, I presume).

And the timbers have opened up unacceptably. You tend to lose things down the gaps. A little bit of a problem if you have a screw loose.

Didn't get to do the timber thingy at all, although that had been on the agenda. Still the tree's still there and the image is firmly planted in my mind. One problem is that I now have two vices and nowhere to put them. I can see myself getting into a whole heap of trouble. I'm thinking along the lines of Millmerran Vice. (Perhaps the new title of a TV crime series about surrepticious land clearing in QLD starring Jon Donson.) Luckily woodworking is not illegal.

    Default Tail vice

Many thanks Brett and to the companies for their involvement and co-operation.

Here is a pic of the installed vice it was quick as easy and works a treat. was,nt sure what to do with the dog so it doesn't go walkabout so I just drilled hole in the rotten old work bench. One day I'll build a proper one but in the mean time this old thing does the job.

That looks 'exactly' like my bench. Chipboard, with a timber edge and varnished.

All the best benches are those that are used.

I am still, one day, going to make my "pretty" bench, but woe betide the first person to damage it: The're dead.

The last of my purchases from this group buy arrived today and I have to say I'm really disappointed.

Disappointed in that there are no more to come.

The last one was the tool roll from H & S. What a beauty. It really does have that leather smell about it. Yeah, yeah I can see the eyes rolling; "What does he expect from a tool roll made of leather."

However it has an old-fashioned leather smell which is, to my mind, devine. I am in a way regetting that I didn't order any chisels. I had already stretched the budget beyond the limit, but for those of you who did order the chisels I think you're in for a treat (not that you don't already know that.)

Thanks to Brett for all the organisation.

    Claw and G****y

While this thread is again topical I regret to inform you that while an unoffical WIP is indeed in place, albeit in my mind, it took a retrograde step when I was last in NSW.

I didn't get to fell the tree. There is a small problem here. As it is a spotted gum and they shed their bark each year I have lost the indellible crayon mark. It will be sitting on the ground somewhere on one of those oval patches.

So I have to find the tree again, which as you have no doubt guessed, will just slightly extend the duration of the WIP.

    Regards
    Paul
