The Cabinetmaker: A novel FEATURING woodworking
Hello,
I have been an amateur woodworker for 30 years, and I've made or restored most of the furniture in my home, but my other great passion in life is writing.
I have just published my first novel , ‘The Cabinetmaker’, on Kindle. One of the main characters is a cabinetmaker, who is forced to fight for justice for his murdered son when the thugs who killed him walk free. It is a gritty crime story based in Glasgow, Scotland, and it tells of his struggle, and his friendship with the book’s narrator, one of the junior detectives on the case.
I'm promoting the book myself, and I wondered if it would be of interest to woodworkers who like to read, as one of the things that holds the book together is the two main characters' love of making fine furniture, and the book also features quite a bit of cabinetry.
I should warn you, however, that in keeping with the book's setting involving corrupt police and Glasgow gang culture, there is a fair bit of strong language, some adult content, and a smattering of Glasgow vernacular.
There are four free sample chapters on the website

There's also a whole pile of extra content including an interactive map of Glasgow, an audio ‘Glasgow slang’ dictionary, a glossary of cabinetry terms and some videos of the ‘Street Cabinetmaking’ book launch we did during Literary Dundee.
STV Dundee did an article on the launch for their website news feed:
