Camphor Laurel
Hello everybody,
I am Raoul from the Netherlands. At my last visit to Australia I saw furniture made of Camphor Laurel wood. I realy liked the look of the lines and contrast in the wood.
Back in the Netherlands I learned that the Camphor trees are realy a pest in some parts of Australia, that it is not expensive and has perfect qualities for wood carving and furniture making. It made me very interested in importing this wood into Europe for my own use, selling it to some contacts I have and who knows what follows.
Can anybody help me with the right contacts to set this up?
I am planning to come to Australia in a couple of months. It would be great if I could meet up with these people and sort it.
I am also very interested to know how your experience is with Camphor Laural wood for furniture making.
Thanks
Greetings Raoul

Lovely to work with, Raoul. It has a lovely aroma which clears the nasal passages, even after sanding. It is regarded as a pest in some places in Australia and I have heard there is a web site dedicated to its eradication.
Cheers,

Hi Raoul,
If you're serious, send me a pm and I'll give you my email and so on. We often source camphor in reasonable quantities and good quality. There are lots of other Australian timbers that might be of interest as well.Cheers,
Craig
