Hello all,
I just thought I would get on line to announce, (with a fair degree of pleasure!) that renowned American Windsor Chair Maker, Peter Galbert of Massachusetts, will be coming to Melbourne, Australia for December and January to teach a series of chair classes and give a seminar on chair making in the U.S.

For those of you who don't know Peter, he is well known in the U.S. as one of the great chair makers of the moment. He has taught at the Penland School of Crafts, the North Bennet Street School, the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, Peters Valley Craft School, Kelly Mehlers School of Woodworking, Highland Woodworking and the Arrowmont School of Crafts as well as writing articles on chair making for Fine Woodworking Magazine.

Pete is also well known for his chair blog, Peter Galbert Chair Notes, Windsor Chairs
where he gives a wide range of helpful advice on all aspects of windsor chair making.

Pete will be teaching a Continuous Arm Windsor Rocking Chair class from the 10th -16th December which at present is full. A second class from 14th - 19th of January will be a Fan Back Side Chair. Positions are still available for this class and waiting list will be held for both classes in case of any cancellations.

On the 12th of January, a seminar will be held where Peter will talk about chair making in the U.S.A. As well as being of interest to chair and furniture makers in general, Peter's enthusiasm for woodworking will be an inspiration for anyone working with wood, professional and amateur alike.

If you are interested and would like to attend, please register your interest at the Melbourne Guild Of Fine Wood Woodworking website, MGFW: Classes and click on the link for seminar. Tickets are $25, inclusive of light refreshments, 6-9PM. Information on booking chair classes can be found here too. Tickets are limited to 150 only, so please register quickly in order not to miss out.

This is a first for Australia and certainly for chair makers in this country and is not to be missed.

For any further information on Peter's classes, the seminar or windsor chair making in general please don't hesitate to email me at [email protected]

Cheers
Glen
