    Exclamation Branch deposits problem

So bloody typical of the banks. For a branch deposit they can only put a numeric reference so use your postcode and I'll match it up.

One member was told that the deposit couldn't be done at ANZ (first time I've heard of a bank not taking your dough, with or without permission) because it's a Credit Union account. Woodfit will report back tomorrow after he tries again with his postcode.

Groggy is off the air most of this week (he is sussing out the accommodation in the Caymans) but I'm sure we'll find a way through.

Nah Groggy, it's too small. This is the one. It's cheaper too, we'll be able to stay longer ('til the heat dies down).

OK, we've got 30/47 members who got the msg.

To the other 17: how the bloody hell do you expect Groggy and I to pay for food, hire car etc? The girls will be free (I can see to that), but there's the party on Saturday night to sort out as well (live band etc).

Oh yeah, don't forget that the public outings start on Saturday, and I ain't talking about us all going to the Museum. Reckon I can bet me left avocado on who's going to be last.

On a more flippant note: One member managed to transfer from his Credit Union to Aust Defence CU (which is what Groggy's a/c is) over the counter, so if anyone else is with a CU (with no Net Banking) you can probably try that.

    Default Update

First, my apologies for being away a bit this week; however, it has not slowed things down.

I have checked the account tonight and updated the spreadsheet that FF and I are using to track payments. So far:

All but 8 people have transferred their money (and have all done it correctly, or well enough that I could figure it out. )

We are still waiting for $1,533.21

FF may contact the 8 people soon, but note that I do not see the transactions for a day or so until they clear the banks, so don't get upset if you paid but are queried by FF, it just needs a little more time.

OK, all payments have been done. Thank you all for your prompt attention. I had feared that this part would drag on for a while, but all done in 4 days which is excellent. Groggy still has to see the last couple of transactions show up, but my end is completed (notifications).

Spoke to Juergen last night about getting his banking details, freight quote, potential stock shortages etc (I think we'll probably drain him of 3mm FCEs). He was having trouble with a machine (again), and was going to try to get an email to me to read over breakfast. My guess is that the machine proved to be more troublesome than he thought, but he hopes to spend the day in the office today, so with a bit of luck I'll get an email this evening.

Re freight: I think the quote he is getting from UPS is just for me to compare with what I was able to get out of the UPS website. It won't be the real deal because it was just for one package (which we must not do). I have split the 836 parts up into 9 delivery zones, and prepared 9 spreadsheets for him so that he can easily pack each one. We won't know the final freight cost until everything is packed (because of the packaging weight), but the quote he has for me will let me know if we're in the ballpark (and I'm certain we are).

The A$ is still exceptionally stable against the Euro at around 0.75E per A$. We couldn't have picked a better time eh?

In due course I'll ask everyone for their banking details so that I can do the refunds (this depends on freight costs more than anything).

    Thanks & regards
    Brett

PS: It seems I'm an avocado down, but Blackatter's for the chop next week, so...

Just to clarify FFs statement that all payments have been done - he has been notified they are done by the members, I am still awaiting 4 to actually appear in the account, however that is most likely due to bank delays so all is looking good.

    Thanks to FF and Groggy.

I can see this has been a huge job. Efforts are about to come to fruition and I, for one, am looking forward to it.

FF has done 99% of the work, I am just the bagman.

For what it is worth, my observations over the years are that the members are the ones who can make or break these deals. Slow payers or those who do not follow instructions can really make life much harder than it should be for the organiser.

In this case, it looks like people have read the instructions and all is going smoothly. I should also point out that FF has very clearly spelt out the requirements to make it easy for everyone.

FF, we now have received ALL payments into the account. There is a discrepancy of +$1.09 comprising one member paying $1 extra and another member paying 10c instead of 1c.

I suggest that since it is in our favour and not worth the effort to transfer back we just wait until after the dust settles then add it to any repayments.

Spreadsheet is updated and we are ready to go with the order.

Groggy, the $1 was a teller mistake (!) and the 10c was because the bank insisted the payment be rounded up. Still waiting for Juergen's email.
