I have finally got to the bottom of what has been going on at Colt Drills. There have been significant delays in getting the latest order out of them (there's a surprise), and info was coming through in dribs and drabs. At one stage it was "some of the production is now in France", then it was "all of the production is in France". They had labour shortages (in france) and the machines were not up and running and so it went on and on.

As it turns out, they have been sold to a French company called Rissand are now called Colt + Riss Tools. As far as I am concerned this can only be a good thing. I have the greatest respect for the French engineering that I have seen, and the service can only improve.

Juergen Miebach, the previous owner, is now the Export Manager for Colt + Riss. We'll see how that pans out, but based upon the previous hopeless service they provided it would seem to me that Jurgen is no longer involved with the things he was good at, and only responsible for the area that he was wurst at.

This may mean that I might reconsider my position of no more Colt Drills group buys after the current one. I guess I'll wait to see if they deliver as promised, but certainly this should now be a whole new ball game.
