consistency in moderation
Ok here we go, testing testing testing.
i am going to start a thread in the open forum. yep this is it. and its about NOTHING!!!!!.
NOw i challenge everyone here to send me a reddie cos you dont like what im saying in this thread (just pretend, ok, its not really gonna hurt me if you read on, that is if the moderators are consistent, send me a dozen reddies if you can, it wont matter)
Ok this is how i get out of all that damage to my reputation - i just post a swear word or something in the post till the moderators move it to the naughty boys room then i ask to have the whole thread removed and under the current rules they have to remove the thread cos i started it and then all YOUR reddies disappear like magic!!!!!! and the perpretator gets all previous rep points back as if he never posted the adverse material that several of us objected to in the first place.
well thats just not right and i cant agree that people can post garbage that offends the majority on here and then after testing the waters have the posts and the subsequent reddies removed.
reddies and greenise are the voice of the woodworking community onthis board and when the moderators start ignoring that its time for a rethink on the the structure of the forum.
This is my thoughts , i would appreciate yours

Don't let it get to you doug , I do however agree with you on principle rules are rules and should be followed if possable but as to your request for reddies, I have yet to have a good enough reason to send anyone a reddie so you will have to make do with these
I actually posted 24  but deleted 12 to confuse things

Doug, I don't agree. I was tempted to come back and give a bit of support the other day because i think some comments were a bit harsh on his role in THAT thread. Not that he needs my help, he doesn't but it's a thankless task and sometimes you just can't win. You're damned if you do, and damned if you don't.
I just accept the decision and go on from there. It's not for us to make the rules. Play on their pitch and you play by their rules.
It's a good forum and made that way by the guys like who spend countless hours looking after us kiddies and if I get a swipe across the head (I got one yesterday - first post back ! ) well, I cop it a get on with things.
Now , send the $20 to.......you know where (unmarked bills please)If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

I agree with Gumby.
The moderators have a hard time filtering out the idiots without scaring off people who may have a valid point but don't express it well (and I don't necessarily mean on the thread you are obviously referring to).
Cheers, Jack
BTW. I didn't send the reddie you requested"There is no dark side of the moon really. Matter of fact it's all dark."

I wasn't going to reply as I am sick of the crap.
The Facts:I asked Bat to delete the thread because of the reasons stated elsewhere.
He asked that I could delete it but that all reddies handed out by him and given to him would be erased.
It was my understanding that when the post was deleted the reddies would be deleted.
They weren't. In order to honour my promise to Bat I physically deleted all rep points concerning that post.
I get a reprimand from Neil for asking Bat to delete the post. I deserve it as it was not done in consultation with Neil. We normally talk about such things.
Bat has said he is getting on with woodwork and I suggest others do the same.
So the upshot is Doug that if you get reddies they ain't deleted if a post is deleted as far as I can work out.
Now let the subject die.

I think I've figured it all out. For years we've blamed the full moon for the monthly rants and raves. Poor old gets his balls caught in the grinder, everyone abuses the krap out of each other, start threads just to add fuel to the fire, so in the end we have several shyte fights all happening at once. Then the Grand Poobah arrives, tells us to settle, and slowly we go back to being good boys and girls.
It is my uncunsidered opinion the problem lies with the male form of PMS. i.e. Pre machinery stress, whre once a month we get all hormonal about our tools.Boring signature time again!

Doug, you have a lot to answer for, you've brought Gumby back to life. He was much easier to take when he was dead.

Doug,
and the other moderators have got enough to do without you going out of your way to give them more work.
