This forum needs Christopha ... though we don't need the occaisional tantrum Why do we need him? Because although he's a crusty sod, he is intelligent and he is caring. He knows his stuff and isn't scared to say what he thinks, nor is he scared to have a go at tin idols.
This latest outrage started as a bit of fun but spun out of control - bit like a block of wood in a power tool. That doesn't excuse his behaviour and a bit of time in the sin bin probably won't hurt. However, he wasn't the only one stirring the pot (and I'm not referring to the other forum member he mentions in his post). There are good reasons for his recent frame of mind and no, it isn't appropriate to discuss them here and yes, he'll be cranky at me for mentioning it. However, he's a good bloke and has given enough to enough people over the years to deserve some lattitude. That's not excusing some of his behaviour and yes, he has some bridge building to do - what I'm saying is that he deserves the chance to do it.

Is he banned? Jeez I wouldn't have banned him - maybe deleted his posts but that's about it. The boards here are fairly self-regulating and his posts were a good case in point. Some people supported him, some people thought he was over the top, some people mocked him, but most people ignored him. Whilst I thought he was full of baloney, at the end of the day (without knowing what his personal emails and messages were) it all seemed a storm in a teacup.

He faded away

I know and respect all the characters involved including Christopha. Regrettably some people have been hurt.
I am sure everyone seriously regrets what has happened and everyone would hate to see it happen again.
Like many conflicts, there are most likely complex underlying issues and people without the knowledge of all the facts (including myself) considering making pointed comments should butt out and let the situation cool.
I think it should be left up to those involved to solve the problem of taking the necessary steps so it doesn’t happen again In other words leave it to the tradesmen which was the topic that started it all.- Wood Borer

I didn't ban him, even though he did send me a disgusting, hurtful and totally unwarrented pm and email. He was banned for 2 days by someone else who did it off their own back with no knowledge of the rubbish I was getting from him.
His behavior was totally childish and uncalled for. That is why he has been sent to the naughty step and where he should stay until his time is up. Personally I think he shouldn't be allowed off the naughty step until he has said sorry, prefferably extremely heartfelt and with tears of blood welling up in his eyes.
Daddles there is no excuse for his behaviour here or towards me and others. As Cliff rightly says I certainly have better things to do in my life than put up with his garbage and so do the other moderators and admin.
Neil
PS If you want to plee for his early release do it to , but I would reckon your plees will be falling on deaf ears.

sorry, have to add a qualification - I believe we (I) still need to take responsibility for our (my) actions though.

To get back on topic a little, to say painting is painting I don't agree with, my daughter started an apprenticeship in painting before her passion for horses took over.
She has the basics and to watch her do a wall in a room is amazing, very fast and looks easy, the finish is superb but when I try it it looks like the paint drunk vomitted on the wall.
Its all in the way it is done, like a lot of things, the experts make it look easy.
I recall a bloke in Gippsland (he's still there in Yarram Peter someone, installs comms and antennas) had to install an antenna for a cocky in a valley, no reception whatsoever, most had given up but not peter, using a little lateral thinking, put in a bloody great yagi and aimed at a mountain and got a reflected signal, used a STB and the cocky, who only wanted ABC, now gets 3 magnificent channels.
People like him I applaud, like positive thinkers, an old friend of mine, retired RAN Commander, never has a negative view, we were on a fishing trip to Eucumbene, filthy weather, howling gale, lightning pouring rain.
We are sitting in the car moaning about the weather etc, not our mate, isn't it wonderful, he exclaims, everyone will be in their cabins conplaining about the weather and we can go and clean up.
We went out in the filthy weather and it was one of the best trips I had ever had, and no competition.
You meet the odd person like this.
His name is Hugh Jarrett and he was once interviewed on TV about an incident of Frankston Pier when a jolly boat upended and all hands were thrown overboard, Hugh jumped in and rescued about 7 or 8, when asked how he felt about rescueing them his response was he felt nothing, what he felt was for the 5 that drowned that he couldn't save.
If only we had more people like this in the world it would surely be a better place.
And sorry, I have a soft spot for Christopha, who can go off the deep end on occassion, but, don't we all?????Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.
