I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

As far as I know, you just need to clear your browser's cache and make sure the password hasn't been saved (if your browser saves passwords)

Well I hope all you drivelers are happy now. You got what you wanted.
I agree with Silent. It's now hard to know what to post.
No more banter (there IS a difference), no more light hearted stuff in case it's considered drivel.
Just down to business I suppose. If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Indeed so many questions, and another nail in the coffin for this unique forum as it was.
Not another nail in the coffin. Don't play stupid, you all know what drivel is and the worst offenders push the boundaries every day. Members are fed up with it, so are the mods and admin. Drivellers are the biggest nail in the coffin for these forums and have driven many, many members away from these forums.
Dont play stupid? As a poster im entitled to my opinion just as you are as owner. And as far as i can see the drivel hasnt increased in the normal posts at all , its only the friday thread and the posts they start when having a dig, and they are clearly identified by the title so the sensitive ones dont have to read or get upset. You have instructed the Mods to crack down on it and it appears to me they are looking a little to hard in the normal posts to find it. And as a poster its my opinion the forum is becoming over moderated.
They were participated in by some very unique individuals with a unique brand of knowledge and humour and some witty and some silly hijaking. They were great to read and participate in. Have a look around, most of the people who used to make these posts knowledgeable, fun, and witty have been driven away by the MINDLESS DRIVELwhich for the most part is not witty, humorous or for most people, fun.
Rubish. Id love to know who the so called members are who have been driven away by drivel. Im aware of only one person, and that would be a lame excuse if it was drivel that drove him (or the other alleged) members away.

Thanks
Thanks Neil
I, for one appreciate it.
Light banter and humour is OK - nay, it's a necessity - as long as it is included in a wood related post. It gets too much (for me) when the banter takes over the thread.
( And I thought I was the only one getting sick of wading through all the drivel that has been inundating the forum for the last few months ...)
Hope it works!!

Waldo thats my point. I couldnt care less about the friday drivelers, but now because they had their way, other posts will be more strictly moderated for the worst. Its becomming more and more like SMC as the weeks roll on. We all like a bit of drivel and trivia and the odd hijack but it was kept in moderation untill the stupid friday thread spread like a cancer
99.9% of the forum members couldn't care less about the Friday Thread.
These people have not had their way and most posts will be no more strictly moderated than before, with the exception of MINDLESS DRIVEL.
As long as my bum points to the ground, these forums will never be like SMC. If anyone thinks they are then maybe they should revisit SMC and have another look.

Seriously
As in most conflicts isn't the solution some sort of balance. The Friday drivel has now been quarantined (spelling?) which is fine and should not invade others enjoyment of the board. The remainder of the board can then continue to include banter, the odd hijack and occaisional drivel and we can police it ourselves to some degree....and with the help of our great mods for the rest of the degrees
Gee it was almost credible for a while there....
HH.Always look on the bright side...

I agree with Lignum
I won't be adding any more 'banter'. The last thing i want to do is upset Neil and the mods (with one exception who shall remain foil-less).
In almost 4 years here, I've had a few posts deleted, a couple of threads deleted but never had an infraction or a warning. I don't intend to start now. I don't know where the line is drawn so I won't try and find out.
I don't blame Neil for the decision. I think it was forced upon him by those who were warned but kept on pressing the buttons anyway. Neil was damned if he did, and damned if he didn't IMHO. He'll probably read this thread and start tearing out what little hair he has left.If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.
