    Default Use of Emoticons

    Gooday Kiddies.

I notice that there are some pretty severe posts creeping into the forums.

I am pretty quick at picking up whether they are sarcastic, tongue in cheek or just plain vindictive or nasty. unfortunately some people (particularly new members) have no idea of the humour or psyche of the person posting them. For some others this is their initiation into the world of Bulletin Boards and have no idea what emoticons are used for.

To these people I say do a bit of a read about emoticons and forum ettiquette. It will make my job easier and others reading more pleasurable.

On another note. If you can't find your post it has probably been moved to "open slather".

I dont know where you get all these symbols from Dumby ( most but not all are below here ) and also I don't think there is even here amongst Dumbies symbols to express all "Tones of voice " that you have . IMHO English is a strange language and many words can be taken many different ways especially when you see no facial expresssion and don't know who your typing to .
Me , I formally apologise to any and all who may have been upset by any post ( except Dumby , cause i know he can take a joke and he's made of rubber and can bounce back ) i have made but if you were upset it was taken the wrong way .

I like to think of it as the sealed section ( note the use of emoticon) with only the hardcore XXXX statements.

Emoticons ? .... Who made that up ! That AN'T in the dictionary

And, I take offense to being called a ..'kiddie', . I think you should refrain from such outlandish vocab. There a plenty of new members out there who don't understand your humour and psyche.....mmmmmm....

Not yet mate, I haven't felt the urge to join up.

Beside it is probably all talk and no action.

I'd like to see a more selective use of smileys  Some people use one on every sentence as though it was a full stop It's too much and all those little images are chewing up my bandwidth Please, before you insert a smiley, think about whether or not it really adds anything to your message Think about whether it is appropriate to your intended tone  And don't use 10 smileys where one would do

    Thank you
